(UPDATE) Would this be good for my retro consoles?

How are you hooking them up to the video processor? I would assume RGB cables, except the US gamecube doesn't output RGB.

the dvp accepts s-video and outputs rgb. I'm connecting it to my tv using a rgbhv bnc to vga adapter

Do you have anything else outputting s-video that you could test with? A DVD player maybe? (Don't buy something just to try it out though; this DVP thing may be busted; might not be worth sinking more money into it)

Have you used the VGA port on your TV before? Just want to rule out the TV.

For that matter, have you used the s-video with your Gamecube/SNES on other displays? Might as well rule out bad s-video cables too.

Do you have any other VGA displays you can try with?

You say it displays a blue screen just fine; could that be something your TV does if it gets no signal (common on older TVs I think), or can you tell that it's definitely the DVP?

Does the DVP have any menus, etc? (I see from the eBay photo that there's a picture button, what's it do?)

Do you have the H and V BNC cables the right way around? Maybe try swapping them? WARNING: don't try this if you're using a CRT monitor!

Does your TV say anything about the signal? What resolution it thinks it's getting, etc.

Forgive me if this sounds insulting, but do you have the BNC cables plugged all the way in? They're supposed to "lock" in place with a twist, if that makes sense.

Sorry, I'm taking stabs in the dark here. I don't know anything about the DVP, and it looks like Runco's website only lists their current products.

S-video cable works, TV works as I've used both before. Whenever I don't have anything plugged into the VGA port and try to use it though my TV usually will display a blank screen for 20 seconds then the power saving stuff shuts off the display so the DVP is sending through a signal of some kind, swapping the h/v doesn't produce a picture.

BNCs are locked into place.

picture button just changes what settings the value button adjust, so ruling all those out it's either the cable or something going wrong in the internal conversions, the resolution my TV says it's outputting is like 1024by768 or something close to that.

The final pic is the closest this device ever came to working.

Seems like your TV is picking up the right signal, it just can't lock onto it properly. Not really sure what to suggest, does your TV have any useful advanced menu options? Maybe try altering the resolution of the VGA input of your TV, most TV's let you do this.

ulera

The tv automatically adjusts it's resolution to match the signal. :/
I have no control.

Bump. Gonna sell for parts if I can't fix this soon. Any other ideas?

If it still doesn't work when my rca to bnc adapter come in i'm shipping it.

Bnc adapters didn't work. Running the device through a vga to composite converter yielded a misalign and extreamly dark picture but somewhat viewable. And with that I give up. Any takers? $5 plus shipping.
