Alright!

Here's the twin

this is what you will need. some alchohol, etc

unscrew the screws on the underside of the twin.

oh my! dust! remove everything from the case. to do this, you will need to undo all the wires from the motherboard as well as unscrew the eject mechanism.

case with everything removed

freshly cleaned motherboard! use compressed air or a vacuum to clean these pieces.

everything back except the disk drive, replace the belt and then

begin testing!

loading a game

succsess! all done!

Ewww on the dust. Makes me want to look into my Famicom and Disk System to see if any dust is in there.  :-\

madman

Was there anything wrong with the twin, or it just needed a belt?

kite200

nope, just a belt and now it works fine.

Yeah jc, the dust was more disgusting than in that pic. Seriously, it was terrible. however, the twin also has alot of vents where the dust can get in easily, I dont think it is as easy for dust to enter the famicom. In the case of the famicom disk system, there is no where the dust can enter aside from the disk slot, which would be pretty hard for dust to get in unless you put it in there yourself. So I think you should be okay on that, maybe there might be some in the famicom but on mine it wasn't that bad when I opened it to replace the controllers. Just remember that twin = dust mine.

I kinda figured they'd be the same, I just wanted to make sure. I've always wanted to attempt something like this.

Switchstance

This must go directly to the website.

Thanks for the suggestion, Switchstance. We have two similar repair logs on the site, so I may take a pic or info from this one and add it to one of those, if relevant. I'll look into it.
