Trying to follow this guide here

http://jpx72.detailne.sk/modd_files/fc/avmod.htm

the board is slimy and cluttered right now, i figured i'd try and see if i can get  it working first before organizing it etc.

Does this look right? :v nothing shows up on screen. I did use the wrong capacitor at the end (22uF instead of 33uF), would that be enough for it to not work? :v theres some snow when i touch the cable to the negative end, but nothing else.

When trying the famicom via RF it did about as much as well, just snow.

Yes, you will have "snow" from RF unit, since it's video input disconnected from PPU.
22uF can cause unstable sync on some TV's.
Check pinout of used transistor and if it's alive or not.
I don't buy, sell or trade at moment.
But my question is how hackers at that time were able to hack those games?(c)krzy

Usually the problem with no picture in an AV mod is that you may have not soldered the right wire to the proper leg of the transistor. You should hopefully be getting some kind of picture as long as the transistor has the proper leads.

Problems are sometimes really trivial. Have you connected shielding of your video cable to the GND of famicom when testing? Is your video cable ok? Are you sure your famicom is running (check voltage on transistor)? Also if I see it right on your photo, it seems that your transistor is connected to pin 21 by Emmitor and not Base like it should. Check the small cavity on top of the transistor, it is near emitor (E) (so yours is upside-down).

I think in the end, its all down to the famicom not working :^(

I replaced the parts and put the two famicoms i have side by side and tested them on the tv. the other one worked 'fine' (for RF on an american tv, anyway) and this one only gave little sprinkles like it did before/ I might try this mod again on the other famicom, but its a different board revision, so im not so sure yet :v

I've tried again with the other famicom, with better results, but somethings still a bit off :v

it has a partial scroll? i guess i'd call it "jumping".

I've recorded a short video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HT30NLM6fWU

it also has pretty noticeable jailbars, but that's not the priority atm. i plan on shielding with copper tape when the time comes.

i've desoldered and shortened all the connections, and it hasn't changed much

update,
replaced the 33uf ceramic cap with a 22uf electrolytic, seems to be working now! no more wobbling (still jailbar hell, but im sure that can be managed in time.)
