Using Quick Disks on a Famicom Disk System

I know that to use a Quick Disk on a Famicom Disk System you have mod the disk or use an adapter so it will fit, but do you have to format the disks or will just using a copying program work? Is there any way to format Famicom Disk System Disks?

The disks don't need formatted prior to writing a game onto them, regardless if there is data present on the disk or not.

So you can copy games to Quick Disks just as you would with a normal Famicom Disk System Disk.
