are these rare? official nintendo product?

That's the Custom Gunman, Nintendo's second version of the game. It's mentioned in Wild Gunman's Wikipedia page.

Can't really say whether the price is right.

They are rare - but not worth $500 unless it's complete and immaculate.  I would say it's a stretch then too.

That is a beauty, but I agree with L E T that the price is a bit high.  They are very hard to find though.

Also with those Nintendo light gun toys from the early 70s the gun and the target were usually sold seperately.  I`m pretty sure that one only comes with the cowboy gunman target and not the revolver.  I have the revolver that went with it: http://famicomblog.blogspot.jp/2012/01/mandarake-finds-kousenjuu-sp-gun-and.html  

Correction:  After reading the Before Mario post, I realize that is the version that came with both the target and the gun!
