There were tons of commercials about ROB, I remember those.  I think it was because they wanted people to fork over the cash for the Deluxe set.  ROB was such a total piece of crap.  A buddy of mine had it, I think he showed me the thing once and we never played with it again.

ROB requires a lot of patience since he moves sooo sloooooowly, but he really turns Gyromite into a totally different game.  But kids have such short attention spans, so I can't see ROB as ever getting too much use.

Of course, kids are impulsive too.  So, kids screaming "robot! robot! robot!" all the time thanks to early Nintendo commercials is bound to have moved a few units :D.

I tried using ROB once, it was pretty shoddy and it went back in the box. I played gyromite using the 2nd controller to move the pillars up and down. I also had stack up. God if I'd only known how much all that stuff would be worth in the box today I wouldnt have just junked it all!

You mean he turns it into one that doesn't totally suck?

You mean he turns it into one that doesn't totally almost, somewhat, kind of kick ass?
