Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari / River City Ransom / Street Gangs help

I love this game but I'm having a hard time getting somewhere in it because I don't know where to go. The farthest I've come is part the warehouse to a big buildign that looks like a prison, but the gate is locked and I see no way of going in... Can anyone guide me a little?

But he didn't spell it out for me, is the point of the game to fight all the bosses in the correct order?

Pretty much, yeah.  If you try to go out of order, the bosses won't be there and/or there will be something blocking your passage (like the gate to the rival school).

You can also skip a few bosses, like the first one "Moose" and I believe the two Benny & Clyde encounters are purely optional as well.
