Oh, veal...very sorry to hear that.

I can't speak from experience because I haven't had long relationships and I'm good at quickly cutting people loose. Keep it cool, take it easy.

Doc

That's rough, man. :( Forget about this place for now, work out your troubles instead.

My ex-girlfriend broke up with me exactly 1 year ago... :'(

manuel

That's not a very happy anniversary.  :-\

Eventually you'll get over it. Now get some donuts (or whatever you like) to ease the pain.

Anyone in a long term relationship or married? Just curious, I've been with my g/f for more then a few years.

My girlfriend and I plan to get married at some point, we've been together for about 3 and a half years. She's 27, I'm 19.

Theoretically that would be the perfect age gap. Women get older than men by some 7-8 years statistically.

Rob64

Yeah, she's awesome. She still loves me even when I go through the video game obsession thing I have... she plays nintendo too, so that helps, but she stopped at NES, doesn't know much after that.

I've never been in a serious relationship. I can't decide if that's good or bad.

No offense, but I think you're looking at this backwards. If women age/mature 7-8 years ahead of guys, that would mean that  she should be 7-8 years younger than him, not the other way around, for their maturity levels to be equal per your theory.

Not sure what I think about the age gap--that means you were 15/16 when you started dating and she was 23/24. When I was 23, I think a 16 y/o would be way too young to even think about. Not to mention it's illegal. I can't imagine there would be much in common. If it works for you, great, I suppose.

You have to give it time and make sure you know the person's ups and downs very well. Then maybe think about getting serious.

I know plenty of people with large age gaps in their relationships and they do just about fine. But I think most often it's a younger gal and an older guy -- as it's most often portrayed in Hollywood movies. As long as it's not Anna Nicole Smith-style age gap, we're good...

Haha. No no, I was going to say that this way, statistically, they would die around the same time. Maturity and stuff like that heavily depends on the individuals and was not taken into account.

Oh, that makes sense. After I thought about it a bit more, I started to wonder if maybe you meant sexual drive.    :P
