I just got one of these with 2 controllers, 3 games, and a memory card. Anyone else like neo geo?

I don't especially like the Neo Geo, but I remember the days when I read about it in magazines and wondered who the hell could afford such an expensive console, let alone games.

And I was kind of shocked when I saw a NG game cartridge for the first time. So big. :o

the console retailed for 649.99, not that much more than a ps3. Oh yeah, and it included a game for free. The games though, retailed for about 300 a piece. Yeah........that's what ruined it. But, now you can get them for less, except for some of the more rare titles, I have fatal fury special, world heroes jet 2, and samurai spirits 2.

I live in Germany, and prices were a bit steeper here. :'(
Besides, back then 650$ were perceived as a higher price as it would be today. Inflation is also a little point.
The Neo Geo was just f***ing expensive.
Games were up to 600 German Marks. You could have bought 3 SNES consoles for that price. ;)

In my eyes even the Mega Drive and Super NES were expensive. (Well, I was a kid...) ::)

Metal Slug for that thing was even more than buying the MVS version + the arcade itself. :P That's not counting the three other games you can get with it. :P

There are some good neo geo titles that I remember of that era like fatal fury and metal slug. I can't believe that console was worth so much but it could have competed if the prices weren't so well ridiculous

I think it coudlve competed if the console price stayed the same but the games were 50 instead of 300

The games, even to this day, are pretty kickass. I could play metal slug over and over, their side scrolling beat em ups were pretty nice, and the fatal fury/king of fighters series was awesome. I never knew anyone that owned an AES, but the pizza place near my house had an MVS cabinet that we dumped many a quarter into. The website neo-geo.com is a great resource and the collectors on there are pretty hardcore.

Sweet Collection!  :o

Talking about NEO GEO, for me offers cool Arcade action, it's a shame games not all are worthy and they are also very expensive in this country.
I need a NEO GEO man. :/
