Hello all my new famicom I just bought is running hot in the back I'm currently using the original ac adapter without a stepson converter however I do plan to get one soon. My question is is that what's causeing the heat or could it be something else thanks a lot for your help sorry for my ac adapter ignorance as well  :-[  :help:

Same with mine, I think it's fine, don't put it on carpet, that usually causes the heat. When I transferred my Famicom from the carpet floor to a TV on my desk I haven't noticed any heat issues. Has it overheated for you?

If it's not the ac then the 7805(voltage regulator) is getting to hot, might need to be replaced.

Probably need to put new thermal compound between 7805 and heatsink. Some versions had also smaller heatsinks - maybe yours is too small to provide sufficient heat dispersion.

When i took it apart i noticed some white sticky stuff around the voltage regulator and the heat sink also it is fairly small. how would i know if the paste needs replacing and is there a certain type i need to get and how much do i need to put on? sorry ive never had this problem before im also hoping i dont have to replace the 7805 but if i need to i will

You need to replace this "sticky stuff" if it's haredened. To check if 7805 needs to be replaced you'll need a voltmeter/multimeter. You have to check the imput and output voltage. Output must be 5V and input around 9V. If input is to high then your AC/DC adapter is faulty. By specs 7805 is capable of turning 5-50V DC into 5V DC but the higher the input voltage is the hotter it gets.

Okay so I bout thermal paste and cleaned off the old hard stuff after I put it on and tested it it was still hot however all the heat is coming from the heat sink its self I also found out that my famicom is an older model as well could that be the reason it's hot and if so I guess there's nothing I can really do. Thanks to everyone for your help 8)

"Hot", "Cold"... do you have thermometer?
I don't buy, sell or trade at moment.
But my question is how hackers at that time were able to hack those games?(c)krzy

Does all your heat come from 7805 heatsink or PPU also? Some PPU's have aluminum strips for heatsink with thermal compound.

The heat only comes from the 7805 the PPU did not feel hot at all and there was no heatsink on it.
