I've seen NES repros of this game, but are there any Famicom reproductions? For anyone curious, it's basically a version of the NES Donkey Kong that reverses the roles of Mario and Pauline. The reason I'm interested is because it has the Cement Factory level that is missing in the normal Famicom/NES version.

There's also a NES ROM of DK with the Pie Factory level - I have that on my Everdrive.

I'm sure the creator would give you the ROM if you asked nicely, have you tried that?

I'm also interested in making a Famicom version myself.  I think the game almost actually makes more sense this way (the purses and pink umbrellas), it's like an alternate DK Jr. ;)

This NES ROM with the arcade version features, is an official Nintendo hack that was included as a pre-installed Virtual Console game on European red Wiis (that's why it says 2010 on the title screen). My niece has it on her red Wii. It was later dumped and spread on the internet. Japanese red Wii had a hacked SMB with the ?-block made into a 25-block to celebrate SMB 25th anniversary (this ROM was also spread on internet).

I guess Nintendo of Europe thought the 25-block hack was lame and made this amazing Donkey Kong hack instead (even though it has not much to do with SMB).

Well the Paulina hack is also cool. :)

Can you get cement level, as in, full arcade version on a famicom cart?..

I believe so, it has been converted to mapper 3. It works on the Everdrive as LET said.

It's just a hack of the orignial NES version with the second arcade level added and some animations of when Donkey Kong is climbing the ladder at the end of a level like in the arcade version. The Virtual Console game includes this hacked ROM packed together with a Famicom emulator.

I was going to bring this up, but I guess I just assumed that nobody dumped the ROM online.

The cement factory rom from the Wii has some bus conflicts issues and may have issues on a real NES/famicom. Some systems are fine, some may show graphical corruption. There were some patches attempting to fix this but I don't know where they settled. The Pauline version is likely susceptible as well, since it was apparently built on the cement factory rom, unless it's declared somewhere it uses the fixed rom.

Anyway, the cement factory rom uses the run of the mill CNROM setup should be no problem for any repro maker to put on a famicom cart.
