Hi all!

I've had my Turbo Twin Famicom for a couple of years now, managed to pick it up for an absolute song here on Ebay Australia. (It was cheaper than a NES costs here!)

I've finally gotten around to setting it up where I actually wanted it, on my gaming CRT, and promptly remembered that the NTSC and PAL color burst frequencies are different. After browsing the Famicom schematics I can see that the PPU clock input is an offshoot from the XTAL Clock circuit for the CPU. Would I theoretically be able to change the PPU clock via a capacitor tweak or would this mess up the CPU/PPU instruction timings?

Probably you'll have to get European (PAL) PPU, CPU and XTAL. Capacitors would only make your picture bad.

I'm no technician but yeah I don't think it's enough to change the clock. There are however Chinese PAL mods that uses the NTSC Famicom board, so I guess it's not impossible, although I have no idea how they do it..

Easiest solution would be to use a NTSC/PAL adapter.

Yeah, I ended picking one up on eBay. I was more curious than anything. Maybe I'll stick it inside the twin and reroute the signals as a passthrough. Might test that on my 'fixer upper' famicom Im waiting for in the mail.
