A collector's quandary....

I recently picked up a working square button famicom!
Player one has round buttons but player 2 has square ones.
The unit also has a smooth bottom.

Overall, the unit is looking a bit rough. (dirty, Player one controller is in rough shape)

My question is:
Should I clean the unit up? (take the system apart for cleaning, maybe replace the P1 controller with a nicer one I have spare)
Or should I leave it as I found it?

I'm wondering if it would be worth more one way or the other.

Thanks in advance!

Always worth more money when cleaned. Selling a dirty system is gross and people would expect to pay less for one. It also looks really unattractive in photos so you're going to have less trust from customers when selling it.  :coin: :coin:

Sounds like someone just replaced the P1 Controller.  I would indeed clean it up and get it sold.  In some ways it's nice because playign with square buttons isn't so good, but it's still there on P2 as a comparsion and conversation piece.

Thanks for the replies, I'm giving it a good cleaning :)

If you want to get the most out of it, you can replace the top half of the Famicom casing with one that is whiter.
