Hi folks,

I am looking to buy a Sharp Twin Famicom, the black turbo version, AN-505-BK. Looking for one in nice physical condition without yellowing on the controllers, no cracks, et cetera. Oh, also I would really like the FDS drive to work. :) I've got 584 positive feedback on eBay: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=jetfirefan

I live in San Francisco, CA USA, so ideally I'd like to buy from someone somewhat close geographically as shipping prices from Japan seem super high, but I know beggers can't be choosers!

Thanks!

Hey, good luck finding your 505. Just a friendly word of advice: regardless of whether the FDS works now, it's *going* to fail eventually -- could be 6 months, could be 3 years. I'd recommend familiarizing yourself with every resource you can find out there, because at some point you're going to be tempted to buy a standalone FDS unit to cannibalize the drive and put it inside your 505, but you *don't* have to -- you can fix it, pretty much every time, if you can pinpoint what's wrong.

Thanks very much for the advice! Do you have any links for restoration tips? I watched a video on youtube about replacing the belt, but it wasn't the clearest thing in the world.

Honestly, all the best advice I've found has been here on FW. Also, I'd suggest checking out videos by Lukemorse1 on YouTube; he knows what he's doing and his vids have been good visual reference.
