So, as you all know, I'm a noob with this emulation stuff. So, if you can tell me, are there places on the web where you can download Playstation ROMs and the like? All I'm familiar with are NES and Famicom/FDS ROM sites.

For Playstation/Gamecube/Wii/Xbox/etc ISOs, P2P (and specifically Bittorrent) is your friend ;)

Ok...didn't even consider that. But then, how does one go about playing them? Does it have to be through some downloadable program on a computer? Or is there another option?

You'll usually find them in ISO images. You can play the images directly in an emulator (like ePSXe for Playstation, for more powerful systems like PS2/GC/Wii/Xbox/etx forget emulators, today's PCs aren't able to cope with it), or burn the ISO images to CD/DVD with your favorite CD burning software (I recommend imgburn - THE program to burn console ISOs) for playing on your real consoles or emulators. Your consoles may need to be modchipped, or you may need a swap disc to play backups.

A lot of people find pSX to be a lot easier to use.  You can get some better-looking graphics out of ePSXe (better than an actual Playstation, actually), but finding all the right graphics plugins and settings can be a chore.  pSX tends to "just work".

Hey, I think I might be able to help you out here.

I get all of my plugins from a site called NG Emulation. If you're looking for PlayStation stuff you will want to go here.

If you do have any trouble please feel free to send me a message or something, I've been tinkering with emulators for the better part of a decade now. Like someone said previously, the stability of the emulator really depends on system specs and a bit of luck. If you have the patience to play around with it and find what works right for you, you will find that it was worth it in the end.

I got this link from RH.net:

Tons of PS1 ISOs.  I swore it'd be a fake site, but the download links that I tried (Valkyrie Profile disc 1+2) actually worked!  Dunno how long it'll be up, though.

I'm looking for Dreamcast ISO links so that I can play once again Sonic Adventure 2, which I do own but lost somewhere in my house :-\ Anybody know a link I could use to download this game without paying for another one again? ???

Yup, its quite easy to get copied games working on a GC with very little modding, all you really have to do is file away or replace the shell to allow it to psycially accept DVD-Rs.

And a $20 XenoGC or a Freeloader.

sweet I didn't know much about moding the cube until you guys mentioned it. Maybe I'll get into it after I mod my xbox because my cube is just sitting there doing nothing at the moment.

My brothers PC is able to play many PS2 games at full speed with little to no lag at all, and the framerate is fairly constant. Some games like Disgaea actually run faster than they should. His computer is a beast though.

Freeloaders don't accept backups. Just imports. You can use a chip, or use the action replay with an exploit to load homebrew and such. I don't remember all the details, but that is the jist of it.
