Ha, nice.  :D

I think it's not too far fetched to say that one of the designers saw a tower like that and used the idea for the game.

L___E___T

Actually, that design is taken from a Mesopotamian minaret - early European's thought it was the tower of Babel lol..

Also, it would be fair to say that SMB3 is THE BEST game in the world!   To date, no game has out sold it.  FACT.  I actually feel quite priveleged to ahve grown up with this game and the series in egneral.  To be at a young age when this launched was better than any game of recent times.  I emember just that image of raccoon mario got my pulse racing (I'm afraid it's true) and how my friends and I referred to the tanuki suit as 'bear' who could turn into a statue..

Of course, we thought that was totally random at the time!

I'm almost positive SMB sold more..

The sales figures are difficult to determine since they were both pack-in titles (although SMB1 came bundled for a much longer period than SMB3).  I don't think I know anyone who *bought* SMB1.  Meanwhile, *everyone* bought SMB3.

manuel

I for one WOULD HAVE bought SMB1 if it wasn't packed in.

nintendodork

Yeah!  Me too!  I can only imagine playing SMB before anyone knew about warps...

Just think if you were the first kid in the city to find out about warps in 1985.. you would be the bomb diggity..or whatever you kids said in the 80's

I played SMB before anyone knew about warps, well at least anyone I knew. We didn't have the internets back then so if none of your friends didn't know about something, it didn't exist.

nintendodork

That's why you had to show them ::) :P

Or at least tell them to close their eyes..and then when they open them...you'll magically be on World 4

It would have been so awesome to have imported a copy of SMB3 when it came out in Japan.  I would have had SMB3 more than a year before everyone else ;D

I can't imagine being one of those that saw The Wizard when it came out and drooled over SMB3. The wait would have killed me.

That would indeed have been awesome.  ;D
Unfortunately nowadays importing is nothing special any more.

Doc

Now-a-days it's more of a hassle, unless it's a game that hasn't and will never be released in other countries.

Damnit, Doshin the Giant!!! >:(
