Hi everyone

I just bought a FDS and unfortunately it is not working properly. The RAM adapter makes a strange noise and the console does not display any image on the screen.

I recorded a video where you can see (and hear) the problem

I cleaned the pins on the RAM and also check the capacitors just in case some of it could be damage but visualy everything is OK.

Any idea what could happen to my FDS?

Thanks for your help

Given that putting the FDS cart in makes the famicom stop outputting video completely, it seems like there might be a short somewhere - you should be getting a gray screen otherwise.

Is the noise still there if the disk drive is not plugged into the ram adapter?

No, the noise came from the ram adapter, so there is only noise if the ram adapter is conected to the Famicon (and it's still there without the disk drive).

Yeah, I think so... Any idea of whitch component could be shorted? Or, at least, any one has the board schematic? so I could replace the capacitors

Skawo

I don't think one exists, but, I mean, you don't need a schematic to replace the caps. They are all labeled...
Do any of the caps look bad, though? Have you tried measuring whether they're shorted?

Schafer

I replaced all caps and It's working back again. I'm very happy with the result. Thanks for your help
