Sunday night I put the finishing touches on a project I had been working, titled <Kearf ze Haenaekh>. This is a game based on the legends surrounding a cave on Xiaoliuqiu Island, a small island off the coast of Kaohsiung in Taiwan.

The game itself is a simple puzzle game. The objective is to break boulders using your "magic hand"* in an attempt to unearth the exit so that you can make it to the next room in the cave. You must be careful though, as you need to avoid the snakes and fire balls that fill the depths of the cave. If you're lucky you might unearth some treasure, and if not, you might impale yourself on some spikes. The concept is simple, yet the catch is you only have 39 seconds to escape each room.

The language in the room is a conlang I had invented a few years back, with the purpose of using it in a game based around the legend of this cave. The language has elements from Dutch / English / German, as well as Chinese, Japanese, and Portuguese / Spanish / Latin. This adds an interesting element to the game, I feel, an added sense of mystery or foreignness.

Please check the game out here:

Also, I made a small run (40 pieces total) of this game on cartridge, with an instructions sheet detailing some information about the game. If interested, you can message me directly or just grab one here:

*Are you casting a spell? Perhaps you have a pickaxe or something to break the rocks, yet that's just not shown and left up to interpretation?

Here's pictures of the cartridges I made. In Famicom style, there are different color shells for this game.
