Currently at (44) games in my "loose" Famicom collection.
Used to have about a hundred games but I only kept what
I knew I'd continue playing.  Now my daughter who just
turned three loves the Sanrio *Hello Kitty* games, and
my son (due New Year's Day) will more than likely be
weened on the goodness of Double Dragon and
the Contra games.  ;D

As of right now I'm trying to track down either a loose
or boxed cart (in good to mint condition) of the JPN
version of "Codename: Viper" which I understand is
called Dead Fox: Human Weapon on the Famicom.
Like that game even better than Rolling Thunder, hoping
to find it soon. Though I'm pondering over buying a
FAMICOM TWIN system so I can finally own Jackal
and Green Beret on the JPN system... only I dunno
how well the belts on those FDS systems hold up and
I suck at tech stuff. :(
Gaming peaked in the 8-Bit & 16-Bit eras...
all else is just rehashes and insanity passing
itself off as "gaming."

That's an awesome label. What game is it?

Inside is Squashed (title screen),  i open cart - nothing special

:o it's actually squashed? that's the unreleased US version of ninja jajamaru, the rom was released on lost levels a while back but the cart looks like it predates their release... i wonder where they got it from.

I'd be curious to know what a pirated gaiapolis looks like. I think I just bought the original cart -- kind of expensive. And, I've seen lots of NES-exclusives in Famicom pirates...don't know how they got any of them; only a handful of NES games were released as "Asian Version," "Hong Kong Version," and "Korean Version." The strangest seems to be Time Diver Avenger, which is the never-officially-released NES game that somehow made it onto Famicom pirate carts.

Collection in my sig. New to Famicom though.  8)

gaiapolis is one of the ones i don't have to hand, but it came in a small box with some blurry artwork on the front (i don't know if its taken from the original sachen version, i've never seen it) and some screenshots and text on the back (although the text is in japanese and actually refers to the game "villgust gaiden"). the cart itself is a generic famicom pirate cart in sort of turqoise colour, with the same artwork as the box on the label.

i suppose with the released NES games that were released as famicom pirates, they just imported them from the US or Europe and copied them in famicom format - if they had contacts in those regions it'd be a relatively easy way to get a game that not many people in Taiwan or China or wherever would have seen before.

i am really intrigued by the case of Time Diver and now this Squashed though - maybe they were sold off or stolen or taken home by staff members, much like the various prototypes that ultimately found their way onto the internet in recent years, but in this case they were discovered by a pirate outfit rather than some individual collector.

I finally took pictures of most of my Famicom Collection.  I still need to take pics of my Disk Writer stuff, guides, books, systems, accessories.  I'll get to it at some point, but my son was screaming!
