Heres more old photos of both an other Famicom and a Disk Drive full with pirat disks that Ive got this year.

Nice! I always wanted an FDS. Let me guess. Got these from Hong Kong seller? I see lots of bootlegs. The SFII cartridge among those was a dead giveaway.

For collecting for only three weeks, you've managed to pick up three of the best carts. Did you plan that? Or did you just get lucky?

Actually I didn't plan that.

I've always wanted a Famicom and a Famicom Disk System for one reason: Metroid. I've always been a Metroid fan, and to have Metroid on Famicom disk makes my day so much.

After that, I decided that the Famicom was indeed a pretty sweet system and I needed more games. I've played it more in the last 3 weeks than I have played my X-Box 360 in the last 2 months. I went to the best import video game store in Seattle, Pink Godzilla, and asked for some recommendations.

3 hours of playtesting later I ended up buying Yume Penguin Monogatari. For those of you who haven't had a chance to play that game, it's SWEET. Basically you get to be Richard Simmons to an overweight penguin whose girlfriend left him because he won't stop eating. Just classic. (I'd love to write a review of it someday.  ;D)

I came back the following Saturday to get some more recommendations and ended up walking out several hours later with Splatterhouse and Akumajou Special. VERY sweet games.

Oddly enough I can't figure out how to get sound to play for Akumajou Special.. the Famicom is in top condition and I'm using all official equipment. All other games put sound out just fine. Akumajou Special just doesn't seem to want to. Any suggestions?

Also, any recommendations for your "Top 10 Famicom Carts" would be awesome, though I'm sure such a list is elsewhere on the boards.

For your soundless game, check the cart edge connector. The Famicom sound passes through the cartridge and back into the system, that's how games can have special sound hardware. Something is broken along the cart's audio path and that's why there's no sound output at all.

Wow, that worked wonders!

I cleaned the contacts and the audio worked perfectly. Thanks!
