Don't think it would be a good idea to get a system from Japan Game Stock, their shipping costs as much as the item.

Rob64

Hence why I said their shipping fees can murder you, but I can't think of another online store that has the variety and quantity like they do.

Yeah, you can beat JGS's shipping, but you can't beat their inventory.

I like to glitch old VHS tapes and turn them into visuals for live music events. Check out what I'm working on - www.instagram.com/tylerisneat

And if you can't beat JGS's shipping, and decide to be a deadbeat, they'll beat you ;)

To their credit though, they ship from Japan to the USA in five days rather than the normal seven.

Rob64

Over all of the import stores, I trust JGS first

Thanks for the link Medisinyl, just ordered Holy Diver, can't wait! Hopefully it'll ship fast, I'm also waiting on copies of Devil World and Kid Dracula, hopefully they'll be here sometime this week.

Drakon,
I agree mostly with your standpoint on emulation...
save for a few small exceptions :P MAME... I cannot collect arcade machines, due to budget constraints and space issues. So, to me there is absolutely no harm in emulating arcade games. I will occasionally emulate something that I don't own, or when I want a quick fix and don't want to pull my machines out of their boxes. Used to have emulators on my laptop for SMS, NES, and SNES on the go. It's not all bad.
BUT, I do advocate original hardware and carts/disks whenever possible.

In terms of clones... I think they are fun to collect... the illegitimate famicom world is large and interesting... and often downright strange. Make it goofy fun.

I can tell you are very passionate about the hobby. Good goin'! Need more people like you around to help keep it healthy. I think there are many of us on here who are player/collectors. I believe I fall into that category as well. Great pastime!

I used to agree with you on mame.  Then I built a supergun.  But I fully understand pcb collecting to be a little bit too much for most people.  Even building a supergun was expensive.  And pcbs are expensive and take up huge amounts of space.  Yeah clones are fun to collect but not to play on.  It's hard to find people who appreciate what I do.  But I don't care so much because I do it for the fact that I love playing these games and on the original hardware gives such an amazing experience.  And yeah I use emulation to test out games that you can't rent anywhere.  I used emulation heavily in the 90s when I was a teenager because I couldn't use ebay at the time and it was hard to come across these games in stores.  Now that I'm living on my own and work full time (decent income) and have credit cards etc buying the original stuff is a great thing to do.  It supports the community and I get an experience far better than any emulation or clone could ever offer

oh yeah I forgot to mention in my introduction a couple of things.

1: I'm currently 28 years old
2: I became a gamer because of the NES.  Before a friend lent me his NES with megaman 2 when I was 9 years old I wasn't into video games.

Hi! I'm Max, 13 years old and I love Japan and Nintendo!
Fav Game companies are:

1: Nintendo
2: Konami
3: Capcom
4: Taito
5: Atari:P (The old one, not the time warner bros. bought them)

My hobbys: Games, Japan (all stuff:P), Nintendo (A hobby? Well, I love it to search everything about Nintendo:P), collect all Nintendo-related things (The Wonderswan too:P) and chess.

My collection isnt that big yet... I'm planning to buy a Famicom Disk System soon. A game and watch game should be awesome too! So... I just bought a famicom. I always thought that thing was uberbig, but its really little and ultra light :o

Consoles I own: NES, Famicom, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Commodore Amiga...

Handhelds I own: Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS Lite... And some Philips thing that my father gave me... The handheld wasnt released cause it was too expensive too make or anything like that... I have two of them... Do you think they are rare?:P

Favourite Game-related people:

1.Shigeru Miyamoto AND Gunpei Yokoi (or Gumpei Yokoi:P)
2.Hiroshi Yamauchi
3.Masahiro Sakurai
4.Fusajiro Yamauchi (Not really game related, but without him Nintendo wouldnt exist, so...:P)
5.Satoru Iwata

Hope you know enough of me!:D

Forever Zero

Hi, I'm new here. Been lurking for a little while, lol. I recently started collecting Famicom games. I am working on getting ahold of the classics first thanks to cool online shops like Rising Stuff and The Famicom Shop.

I wanted a forum to check up on for some information about Famicom and well, this was the first site that google brought up. XD

JC

Good to know Google's working for us! Thanks for joining.
