Hello, all.
I joined here about a year ago, but have only recently been posting much. My love of my Famicom is but one facet of my eclectic electronic tastes. If you want to talk about LaserDiscs or the Sega Nomad, look me up. I love 'em both.

My story is a short one: I recieved a Super Nintendo for Christmas in 1996
(yes, I'm that old) and ever since then I've been collecting video games like the obsessive nerd that I am.

I look forward to many interesting threads here.  :)

Laserdisc is totally fun. I have a modest collection of like 6 titles though.

manuel

Welcome.
I also have a total of 4 Laserdisks, but no player to watch them.  :-\

Did Laserdiscs have region specification?
I like to glitch old VHS tapes and turn them into visuals for live music events. Check out what I'm working on - www.instagram.com/tylerisneat

Probably not since they're analog, but that means that they're subject to color encoding/frame rate incompatibilities.

I have some Japanese and Chinese imports I watch on an American player just fine.

Hey everyone, I'm new to these forums but Ive been getting info from them for a little while. I found this place looking for info to AV mod my famicom a few months ago (my first imported system  ;D). Nothing beats playing the old games on their original hardware, but that doesnt mean we cant spruce them up a bit, right? My famicom is AV modded, the controllers are rewired with gamecube extension cables so i can add as much length as i need (the ~3 foot standard length wasnt cutting it). I'm working on an NES zapper adapter, and at some point I will hopefully be able to get fdsloadr working, and Famicom World is a great place for help and info :).

I guess I kind of just started posting randomly, completely missing this thread.

Uh, I like video games. Sometimes I like learning about them more than I play 'em, which is kind of silly, but it's fun to do. As far as systems go I've got plenty. I mostly play on PC and DS, but after educating myself in the field of the Famicom/NES, my interest is definitely piqued. Metroid and Starfox are my favorite series, and my favorite genres are platforming, action/adventure, shooters (FPS, arcade-y), and racing (not realistic games, but like Excitebike, Mario Kart, F-Zero, or Burnout). I was a pretty big Nintendo fanboy up until recently, when Nintendo changed a lot. I still love the old stuff, but the Wii doesn't interest me much. The DS and DSi have definitely proven their worth to me, though. :)

I've got a few profiles on other sites such as Last.fm or YouTube, if by chance you're wondering what kinda stuff I'm into. I also maintain a subdomain every now and then.

So this is pretty much an awesome site. I didn't expect to find so many people that loved the Famicom this much, and I probably would have been in the dark about finding where to buy stuff if I hadn't found this. By the way, Famicom World is the 3rd result (after 2 wikipedia entries) on a Google search, so I'd say at least the main homepage has gained much popularity. Anyway, I'm really glad I found here and I think I'll be staying a while.

kirayamato

hi, i'm kira. recently i'm into gundam model kits and old school nintendo systems.
since i'm a Nintendo DS fan too, i have 3 Nintendo DS's.
sometimes i love to doodel with the Picro-Chat program that's installed in the ds.
and i have a famicom, but somehow i got it in a flea-market, and i'm not sure if it works because i don't have
ether the AV cord or the power cord. so i guess i'll just put in my room as display.

i hope i can learn more thing about this famicom system from this site!

gundam 4 ever !!!

manuel

Welcome kira.

You should definitely try to get cords for your system and play it if possible. It's too good to only use it for display.  :)

FamicomFreak

Welcome kirayamato! You have you show a photo of your famicom to see if it's a clone or original and we can probably help you find the cables to hook it up. I think 133mhz can take care of that.

Welcome! Do you have any experience in NES game development?
