Welcome. The forums here are great, with lots of nice people. You may not see much of he here as I don't frequent anymore, but I'll be around! :)

I'm Simon from Sweden. I'm 15 years old (Soon to turn 16) and in one way or another, I grew up with the Famicom.

On the very first Christmas of Y2K, I was gifted a Mega Joy which was sold by mail-order back then. For those who don't know it, it's a Famiclone with around 60 built-in games. It also lacked a cartridge port and 2nd controller input, mainly because the system was shaped as an N64 controller.

Back to the story now! That one Mega Joy lasted for around three years, when it suddenly broke. It was around the same time I moved to the house where I live in now.

Within a few months I was gifted yet another Famiclone - the Mega Racer. Unlike the Mega Joy, it's shaped like a steering-wheel, had a cartridge port (The 60-pin one) and came with accessories. Like the Mega Joy, it had around 60 built-in games, but rather than going to game 1 after game 6X, it instead continued in an eternal loop.
This system is still in possession by me. The chips inside are working just fine, but your thumb will be broken before you can make the character on the screen go to the left.

At my 11th birthday, I got another Mega Joy, which only lasted a couple of hours. >:(

When I got Internet connection in August of 2006, I was introduced to the Nintendo Entertainment System after Googling Mega Joy on the Internet. Since that day, I was craving for an NES, until my dad bought me one along with the game Super Mario Brothers.

Since then, I've slowly been collecting games and met other players through forums and an annual video game convention called Retro Gathering, which I've been attending since 2008.

In the meantime, I've been playing PC games. In January of 2009, I expanded my collecting to the XBOX.

That pretty much wraps up my history. I hope I'll have a good time here at Famicomworld. :)
Collecting NES games, Famicom games and XBOX games.
Hoping to begin collecting C64 games soon.

Hey welcome to the site Simon! I too am 15, but i'll be 16 in 1 week. Hope you like it here. =)
So ends another chapter in the glorious legend of the Ninja... Until next time...

Actually I introduced myself previously but I moved from Japan to Brazil and my life was quite messy. It's been a year since my last post.
Here I go again, on the best Famicom discussion forum over the internet :D

Greetings to all :D

Sungryong

Hi everyone (And thanks MasterDisk for guiding me to this thread)

Name is Sung ryong. I was recommended to this forum by a friend of mine for a pretty long time ago. I come from South Korea but for about a year i am living abroad. I mainly collect pirates (and mainly JY ones) and other things obscure stuff that is interests me. I am very nostalgic and this is why my big interest of these kind of games and mainly pirates started since when i grew up in the early 90s, these games were hot and very cheap. So for me, it is both something personal, interesting and very special.

Best regards! :)

Sungryong

Thank you MD! I replied the PM right after i wrote in this thread. I have read some of your posts and i am really impressed by your knowledge about these kind of games. And i am very happy to see that there are other real enthusiasts when it comes to pirate and unlicensed games.

About Jjaehee. I absolutely know who he is, even if i do not know him personal that well. But he has a really impressive collection i must say.

Sungryong , I remember the day I saw your name on the boards, I actually was thinking you were MD's friend and were going to post a topic in the Selling forums for tons of JY games, so I was eying the forum for about an hour  :D

Cool to have someone else who has a personal appreciation for pirates. I guess JY pirates must have been more popular in Korea than Taiwan afterall. I thought Jjaeheee was the only one from Korea who cared about them hehe.

Haha i see. I am sorry if i spoiled your expectations  ;). But in the future though, i will eventually list some games for sale/trade, i am usually collecting mostly of all the JY carts that i have been able to. But mainly, i am looking for the Korean releases. And if i come over a Korean release of a game, wich i eventually already have in TW/Intl region for example. Then i usually sell/trade the foreign cart away  :)

Actually, in Korea, there exists some collectors of JY. But mainly, it is people who are interested in the gaming scene over-all who also have a little taste for these games. But real  "die-hard" collectors of JY games are rare even if some still exists. Just like in TW i assume.

hey everyone just figured id introduce myself... i came here for help with with fds and i was lucky enough to get it up and running thanks to this forum. my name is ryan and im an avid collector of all video game related stuff. i got 78 systems. And entire complete pc engine collection and an arcade from japan... i was lucky to find my fds setup both boxed and complete for a great deal... this is the place to be for anything fds related and feel right at home.... Thanks for the hospitality...

ericj

Welcome! Sounds like an awesome collection. Since you're interested in both PC Engine & FDS, you should pick up a MGD1 with the PC Engine interface. Then you can use it for PC Engine backups and dumping & writing FDS disks.  ;)

Hi. I've been here for quite sometime. But I registered just now, looking for friends?  ;D

Actually, I've been searching for a Sharp Twin Famicom service manual and this has been one of the sites that I looked for... So far, I haven't seen one yet but I'm hoping I could find one or somebody here can help me (this is a Famicom forum after all...). The one I just bought doesn't seem to work and my brother said its a regulator problem or something, he could fix it if he had the manual... I dunno with him... So there. Sorry bout that.

Anyway, off-topic--Saying hi to you all! Hope I could gain friends here.... xD
You must construct additional pylons. >:]
