When did you start learning English and Japanese, manuel? I have an interest in learning other languages, I just hope I'm not too late   :P

manuel

You're definitely not too late.
I started learning English in 5th grade... so at 11 years old.
I started learning Japanese in university when I was 21.

Hello, I'm Dire 51. Some of you may know me from the Retrogaming Roundtable or my websites West Mansion and The OPCFG. I'm here today after recently reacquiring the Famicom collecting bug, and this certainly looks like the place to be to discuss all things Fami.

Now to go browse around.

Nice avatar!
Now have fun here!

Hi all. Been lurking here for awhile and decided to join. I've been gaming since the atari 2600 came out in the 70's. I've owned about all the american consoles and computers at one time or another. But have been selling most of it off to get into retro import systems. I've become bored with the same old, same old, games. I also really enjoy the artwork on the Japanese game boxes and carts. Why do we always get the dull boring crap here?

Any ways just thought I'd say hi, and that I envy all you who live in japan. I really hope to get there one day.

Hi guys and gals, I just found this site during a quest to locate a power adapter and some games for my Famicom and Super Famicom that I picked up this week.  I am totally green in the ways of Famicom, but have wanted one for a while now.  I have been collecting consoles for over twenty years and upright arcade games for the past year and a half.

I am pretty excited about the new 8 and 16 bit world that has just been opened up to me.  I look forward to meeting some new people and playing some new games.  I am look forward to any game suggestions y'all may have.

Here are some photos of what I picked up this week.  I can't wait to start purchasing new games.

Welcome to the Famicom and Super Famicom gaming world.
Hope you have fun with your new acquisitions.

Manuel doesn't sounds like a japanese name  ???

Hi nerdy girl and welcome to the best generation of gaming.....god I feel old now....
I'm not sure what you mean by "I'm totally green in the ways of the famicom".  Does that mean you're energy efficient?  Just remember....it's not easy being green..

game suggestions.....akumajyo densetsu (if's difficult yet awesome).  Contra (duh, also difficult), rockman / megaman 2 (can be difficult).  Final fantasy 3 (also very difficult....okay I guess everything's harder on the famicom).  That's a good starter set I think.

That is a wonderful looking SuFami and AV Famicom, welcome!

Manuel is German, and is living in Japan as a translator.  ;)

Petik1 is wondering why Manuel is talking in 3rd person ::)

manuel

He is eccentric and likes to talk in 3rd person...

ericj got it right. Thanks, man.

Thanks for the welcome and the recommendations.  Drakon, I couldn't agree more, the 8 and 16 bit generation were hands down my favorite systems to play.  I see the Famicoms quickly becoming my most played consoles.  I honestly don't know what took me so long to track them down.  As I mentioned I feel like a lost world of games has just been opened up for me.

As of late my console collection has been suffering.  I  have been spending heavier on my upright collection, but I see  that changing now.  I have been cruising the FS thread looking for some new goodies.  Is there anything I should know about or watch out for?

Thanks again.
