Hoping to spark some discussion (and learn quite a bit in the process), I open up the question:

What are the 5 Most Underrated Famicom games in (or not in) your collection?

Now I can sit back, take notes, and buy them all somewhere!

Iv'e got two:

SD Hero Soukessen. Damn! I try to sell this game to everyone and no one will buy it. It's a second-rate Rockman, but it's f*cking awesome. You play as several little creatures who morph into slightly different creatures are you go through levels and pick up items. It's also got one of the best transitions from level selection to the level, with the dudes flying through a starry sky. I still haven't beaten it. The power went off when I was on the final boss (the final boss is really tough).

King Kong 2. It's part RPG (I hate RPGs) but it's amazing. You have to keep close track of where you are because you can warp from world to world by finding hidden doors. It gets confusing, but that's a part of the fun. The goal is to find the key in each world and unlock the chained up Queen Kong.

EDIT:

I've got another.

Joy Mech Fight. I know a lot of people like it, but few ever mention it. It's the best (one of few, two?) officially released fighters for the Famicom. You play as these disconnected robots and have special moves, etc. It's the standard but one fo the first. It's got some wonderful artwork (I'm thinking of the city) and it's got a nice storyline (though not unexpected).

SD Hero Soukessen.

I bought this game off of your recommendation, and I love it. It's really hard, I've never beat a level xD

Hitler No Fukkatsu / Bionic Commando: I don't know if It's underrated, but it's fun/

Both you guys are right on the money! I own SD Hero, Joy Mecha, and Hitler Top Secret. Hero is awesome, the sprites are well done, and the stages are brutal. Joy Mecha.. what can I say? It is just beautifully made... and who doesn't want to give Der Fuhrer a nice ass kicking?

King Kong 2 is intriguing! I will have to sniff that one out somewhere.
As Toucan Sam would say:
Follow my snout! Its never in doubt! (actually I think thats from Robot Chicken) ;D
