I stumbled upon something that has me baffled. If you hold the select button when the naxat soft logo is swirling, just before the main menu comes up it takes you to a screen that says "Change Limit" and gives you the ability to input some 7 digit number.

However you can only change one digit from 1-9, but you can move it anywhere in the stream (e.g. 0020000 or 0000009). I have absolutely no idea what this does, if or how it effects the gameplay.

So do anyone know what this is, and what it does?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I've heard there are various different game modes accessed in strange ways. I don't own this game though so it's just speculation.

While I can't say for sure, it seems to me this Change Limit screen allows you to change the time limit, which makes sense because the game was used in competition.

There are. I'll just refer you to the Recca Guide over at shmups.com for a list. The most interesting secret is the Zanki Attack mode which really shows how capable the Famicom is in pushing sprites.
