It was strange when I first moved here from a state where you could pump your own gas, but now I like it and it seems normal and also provides jobs for people. As a plus, I don't have to smell like gas afterward. 

What are your thoughts on it?

I know this because I have a sister that lives in Oregon

Personally, I don't understand why they started doing it.  I heard it's because some guy was killed because he forgot to take the pump out of his car or something?  I'm not sure if that's true or not.  I couldn't imagine it pays anymore than minimum wage....since you only pump gas...

Plus, who says the people who pump it are the smartest people in the world? 

My dad went to Oregon to visit my sister once, stopped at a gas station, tried to pump his own gas..and almost got arrested for doing so

  I almost got arrested trying to pump my own gas when I first moved here, too! I really don't know why they started doing it in the first place, but anyways, a job is a job is a job in this economy.

It is illegal to pump your own gas here in New Jersey too. I'm always waiting for someone to show up and pump gas when I go to another state.

Yeah, can't pump your own gas in Jersey.  I went to college in New York and had to pump my own.  It's pretty nice not having to wait for some teenager at Wawa to get his butt over to your car and do his job.

The Wawa in my hometown has all 40+ men the pump the gas, unfortunately I haven't found any Wawas around here yet.

It's only hard at first. Before you know it, you'll be like all the other drivers: texting and talking on your cell, eating, driving like an a-hole, and just plain not paying attention. Just give it time.
