See if you can get your hands on the grading equation used. Here it's like asking for the chemical formula of Coke, or Colonel Sander's secret flavor recipe of 11 herbs and spices, it's a really well guarded trade secret. In cram schools and such linear approximations of the formula are used, but these won't quite match IRL results and nobody outside the Ministry of Education really knows the real thing.

I hate English. At least math makes some ammount of sense :|

Our teacher grades tests really weird....We have like 80 problems on a test...I got like 30 right...and I got a 79%
Sounds like the grading system of the standardized college entrance test around here. You start with a fixed score, correct answers give you more points and incorrect ones punish you by subtracting them, and the score seems to grow in a non linear fashion. As far as I know it's been done that way to discourage answering at random (so that you only answer what you really know). Thing is, I discovered that you can get a higher than average score (pretty good in fact) by answering about half of the questions right and omitting the rest (basically make sure that every question that you answer is indeed right).
It's not even that.  I answered all the others wrong...(well, guessed) AND not everyone was graded the same way.

Sounds like your teacher is grading on a "curve." In the curve system, the highest score achieved by a student in the class sets the grading bar for the rest of the students. I can only assume that your whole class did quite poorly. :P

I think she's just nuts :P  I got one of the worst scores in the class, I think I was the 5th lowest out of like 19 :-[

Wasted my time going to the local high school to tutor, and no students showed up.

Well I don't teach anything, yet. I'm a college junior, history secondary education major. I want to teach high school history, but I also plan on getting certified to teach English as a foreign language. I want to live abroad and teach English, hopefully in Germany, Israel, or Japan.

Anyway, I normally tutor in history but I'll sort of take anything that comes my way in this program. I've tutored history, English, and even gave science a shot. Science didn't work out so well  :-[

I'll just make a school thread, so this one stays on topic.
