I like the gba sp model 1.  Model 2 doesn't look as nice when it's switched off.  And I don't use the backlight so it's no loss to me.  gba sp is the perfect size, weight, battery life, game selection, etc, etc

I didn't realize there were two models of the GBA SP...they all look the same to me :D
I like to glitch old VHS tapes and turn them into visuals for live music events. Check out what I'm working on - www.instagram.com/tylerisneat

Trium Shockwave

The first SP was front lit, later they were back lit

FamicomFreak

aha! I'm looking for a backlit one....man I can't seem to find one.

The backlit model is much much nicer. Its exactly the same, except that the frontlight button toggle switch now toggles between normal brightness and a super brightness. Because its backlit, even the default brightness is much brighter and more vivid than the frontlit SP. By comparison, it uses the same LCD technology as the GBA Micro, which in turn is an improved DS Phat screen.

Well I hope I get it right the third time. I can't keep buying SPs forever man! So far I bought the NES edition one and the red one but none have the backlit thing. Maybe I should go to Gamestop and test each of the SPs they have there. I don't feel good paying 40 dollars for one though.....

The advance is the first version of the SP...the SP is more compact, plays all the games the Advance does, has a light-up screen, and comes in more variety.

I remember I got my first model GBA with Super Mario Advance when it was fairly new. I was a little disappointed with the non-backlit screeen so I bought a small light to be able to play in the dark but it drained batteries like mad. Then I remember reading about the Afterburner kit (basically a true backlight for your GBA). It required taking apart your GBA, cutting some plastic and soldering some wires. I wanted to get one of those so bad, but then the GBA SP came out and my GBA was stolen shortly afterwards :'(.

If I had quite a bit of money to spare I'd buy another GBA and install an Afterburner kit, just for the cool factor of owning a backlit original GBA :).

After Burner?  You plan on shooting jets with your GBA?  :)

Seriously, though.  SP.  Compact, light, all GB/C/A games, lit up screen, and rechargable batteries.

Afterburner!
Damn Sony.
I was going to buy one of those and a bunch of other stuff from Lik-Sang. :(

Blue Protoman

Yeah.  Sony sucks because they had Lik-Sang closed.  I wanted to by pirate Famicom carts...
