Has anyone got a crazy climber cart and controller would like to see a pic of one and i am also interested in how it plays there havent been many ports of the game on other systems due probably to the controller issues its hard to play on the super famicom unless you happen to have two arcade sticks, its one of my all time favorite games but would like to know if the controller works ok before i try and hunt one down any info be really helpful thanks

It was called the Climber Stick (クライマー スティック).  Best I could find is this picture:

from http://www.geocities.jp/hiropong_9372/goods/goods.html (the page has embedded music...).

There's also this auction:

The game requires you to use the d-pads on both controllers.  The Climber Stick is just two little joysticks that you can attach to the controllers somehow so that you have joysticks instead of d-pads.

Thanks joe looks like it may be a little better than the super famicom controls still prob better investing in an another arcade stick for the famicom ive already got a Y cable so i can connect two sticks  to the front port of the famicom still if a boxed crazy climber comes up i will grab it,has anyone got an idea of the rareity of them

Blue Protoman

Were there games that came with R&B as well?

I was under the impression ROB was sold separately.

nintendodork

He meant the music genre R&B...because FDJ said jazz...

Heh. Looked at that one too fast. :P But yeah, was ROB sold alone? I've only ever seen it alone, I think, not packaged with games.

nintendodork

Uhh..are you forgetting abuot the deluxe set, or do you mean after that?  I think after that, he was sold alone.  In Japan, I think there were packages that had him and Robot Gyro or Block and the corresponding pieces for the Family Robot.

I thought Gyromite Only came with ROB.
I dunno, I'm probably wrong.

nintendodork

No, they had a big box Gyromite package that came in a big box (duh) that contained ROB's pieces for Gyromite and the game itself.  I don't know if the game was in a separate box inside the big box or not.

Are you taking NES? I've seen separate boxes for the games and pieces.

nintendodork

Yes I am.  I've seen them on eBay a lot.  They must do both.

I was under the impression that the Famicom Robot was purchased by itself, then you had to buy boxes for the Robot Gyro and Robot Block games and setups... although in all fairness nobody's said "Famicom Robot" yet, just ROB, and yes, ROB for the NES came packaged with Gyromite. ;)

Is it considerably more cost effective to buy the Famicom Robot instead of ROB? I kinda want the thing but I'm not sure I wanna pay the prices for the NES ROBs which are often in lousy shape.

nintendodork

Family Robots are harder to find than ROBs.  Your best bet would be a ROB w/ Gyromite stuff.

The list needs to be updated.  Creatom, by Micro Genius, came packaged with cardboard pieces and an instruction sheet for playing a cardboard version of their Famicom game.
