You don't need a template if you do it right. Scan at 300dpi, crop, adjust the levels a bit and save.
When you print it out using anything but Windows XP Photo Printing Wizard, the cover should come out at the perfect size for FDS.

Yea i scanned @ 300dpi, edited the levels, saved, and printed after importing to word 2007, but the resulting print took nearly the whole page.

Do not import to Word 2007! Treat the image as-is, don't use Word or Windows XP Photo Printing Wizard and it should come out at the right size.

I scanned with ACDsee 7 @ 300dpi and printed but now the print is too small.

What I would really like is a template that adheres to the FDS cover's exact dimension, and you can insert your JPEG and it will automatically fit inside that template (it would help if the template had lines around it for easy cutting).

*edit*

I found out that the above can be done with Word 2007. You insert the FDS cover as a picture, right click and choose size. Height is 5.66"  and Width is 3.14". If you go to Picture Border, you can choose a border around the cover, so it's easier to cut it out (since most covers have white around the edges). You can fit two covers on one page.

Thanks to all that helped!

Thanks for the tip. Do you have a recomendation of what kind of paper to use for printing FDS covers? Plain paper with my color laser printer looks good, but the paper is too flimsy.

Use a semi-gloss cardboard paper, youll be surprised with the results ;)
