The year was 1983, down under BMX Bandits was out... Armored Trooper VOTOMS was debuted in Japan and became the lesser known Japanimation sensation in the shadow of Gundam and Macross... the musical group Journey had even more kick ass tunes with Steve Perry belting them out... Huey Lewis was going on about how this chick had "heart & soul"... the video game crash had occured... and at a Garage Sale my father bought me an 6-Switch wood paneled ATARI 2600 VCS with like 27 games to go along with it.  That for me was the first foray into home gaming.  Me and the old man stayed up all night (I think I might have fallen asleep around 2:30AM or so) playing Video Pinball, Bowling and Combat: Bi Plane Dog Fights.  Within 6 months I would end up with nearly 85 games for the system (not counting the original 27 games) as the market was shit for everyone else.  But for me it was awesome.

The rest for me was history.  Of course knowing that whenever I ventured into a Pizzaria, a shopping mall, a convenience store, etcetera... well, there was going to be even more bad assery in the form of Arcade Cabinets with all kinds of 16-BIT goodness that just couldn't be pulled off on the Atari 2600.  Snoopy & The Red Baron ended up being my all time fave A2600 game along with *River Raid* and the port of Nintendo's original Mario Bros.
Gaming peaked in the 8-Bit & 16-Bit eras...
all else is just rehashes and insanity passing
itself off as "gaming."

First system I ever had was an Atari VCS. We had a small, but fun collection of games like Donkey Kong, DK Jr., Frogger, Q Bert, Vanguard, Pac-Man, Combat, Dolphin, Pitfall, Jungle Hunt... I still own these same carts to this day. Granted, not all of the games were the best ports they could have been (Pac-Man for the 2600 here), but they were still a ton of fun, and great games. The original heavy sixer we had burned up (something fragged on the board), and it was later replaced with a 2600 Jr. I still have this console.

I didn't own it(like, our whole family did), but the first system I ever played was the SNES, with Toy Story. I can remember being like 4 years old and hiding under my bed because Buzz Lightyear scared me... >_>

Atari 2600 back in 1984. My dad bought it from a guy across the street. I still remember the day we got it. I played Adventure and Donkey Kong all night.

My first was a ZX Spectrum +2         technically a computer, it was bought for games so that counts in my book.  It hardly had any other software other than games.

1st console I had that was all mine was a game gear, man I loved that thing!

I may have answered this elsewhere. Oh well.

First system I played on was Atari 2600, it was my dad's... good times. We had a colecovision too but dad sold it...  :-[

My very first system that was mine was The N64 packaged with Pokemon Stadium, and then grandma got me a gold cart of Ocarina of Time... so lucky.
Now you're playing with Power

Drakon

NES.  I paid completely for it.  My parents were very against video games.

And they're still against them now?

My father has always been a hardcore gamer but my mother was against video games.
Now she actually likes some of the newer stuff.

Blue Protoman

My dad likes video games (but he's going to be 60 in a year, so he doesn't have the reflexes anymore).  My mom?  Eh...not so much.

My parents don't care for vidja games that much, and since neither of my brothers are usually home, I usually play alone.
I like to glitch old VHS tapes and turn them into visuals for live music events. Check out what I'm working on - www.instagram.com/tylerisneat
