I also have a pirate of this game, mine has "sample" hacked to "editer jmhwang version" I always assumed it was just a pirate of the Japanese version...

Does your copy have all the same abilities in game?
Because it might just be a odd title editiing.

Yes it has all the same abilities, also does not show "2" at the difficulty select screen, and allows you to select difficulty at the continue screen, infinite continues, etc. are you guys sure this is not the same as the JP version? I also tried the JP rom and it has all the same differences mentioned here- unless I am missing something...

NintendoKing

So you are saying that you have infinite continues in the regular Japanese version?

sounds the rom in question is more like a prototype/early rom already dumped, they exist for lots of games and sometime have unusual features, like a level select etc.  Or just lots of bugs ;)

Cool, cool.
You are prolly right, either way I still love my cart proto pirate.

Oh yes, I'm not putting it down at all, great find.  Like I said, I think it makes for a purer game.  I play my famicom in bursts but back then they made them last.  Now I prefer the quick fix gameplay, maybe it's why I love Hogan's Alley so much.

Well thanks for posting this, I took my Double Dragon 2 pirate cart out and played for a bit, good times.

Is it finished? From end to end, and they are just debugging it, or is it unfinished?
Sorry folks.
