PSP Save question for backups

I hope someone here can answer this. Its too wordy for google. I've already tried.

I have a PSP 2000 with 5.00 M33-4 custom firmware to play PSP backups, mainly for not having to swap out UMDs. I've noticed that backup games do not use the save files from my actual UMD games nor those found online such as on gamefaqs. How can I fix this? I've placed several hours in my UMD Final Fantasy 1 and want the backup to be able to recognize it and load it. Thanks.
