nintendodork

Mother, Pokemon, and the Super Mario RPG series.  I don't really like RPGs a whole lot.
I like to glitch old VHS tapes and turn them into visuals for live music events. Check out what I'm working on - www.instagram.com/tylerisneat

Probably my favorite is the original Final Fantasy.  I also like Crystalis, Faxanadu, and Battle of Olympus.  16-bit...Phantasy Star IV, Landstalker, and Beyond Oasis.  Newer than that...I liked Xenosaga -- gotta get through all three of them at some point.

I'm surprised I never heard of Crystalis as a kid.  It was about a year ago perhaps that I got it and I think it's a great game even by today's standards, and one of the better NES games.

Otherwise, there are too many RPGs I like to list, but for NES, I may say Zelda II,  SNES definitely goes to Chrono Trigger (and I typically hate that battle style).  For PC I may have to say Oblivion, but Daggerfall would have been a contender if it weren't for the horrible bug issues, and for MMORPG, the original EverQuest.

My absolute favourite RPG is Guadia Quest on retro game challenge / Game Centre CX

I hated RPGs up to that point and it single handedly won me over.  Franchise wise I like Dragon Quest, Guadia Quest is basically an homage to the early famicom DQs with a few other nods from other RPGS thrown in.  It was an absolute joygrind.  I especially adore the music.

I now cannot wait for Guadia Quest Saga...

I really hope Namco Bandai localise this as it looks very special but I know the first one sold less than enough to pay for the localisations.. :(

大事なのは、オチに至るまでの積み重ねなのです。

TanookiSuitSam

RPG: Earthbound 0 and 1, Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario series and I guess a few of the Golden Sun games. Truth be told, I really didn't like Mother 3/Earthbound 2 all that much.

Adventure game wise I really enjoyed Super Metroid, Castlevania SoTN, and LoZ series.
hi

manuel

Secret of Mana, Zelda - Link to the Past, Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, Phantom Hourglass, Terranigma, Baten Kaitos are at the top of my list.

nensondubois

Zelda, Mother, Pokemon (Well, I used to like it) and Dragon Quest.

Rogles

Mother and Megami Tensei series. Neither is a terrible grindfest. Dragon Quest can be enjoyable if you have a speed-up button on your emulator. :P Also Final Fantasies I, III, and VI. I love VI so much.

OH

Also Wizardry, even if the difficulty makes me want to die.
And Nethack, if roguelikes count. (http://www.nethack.org/)

Hands down my favorite RPG ever is Final Fantasy VI. The music, the graphics, the story the gameplay everything came together just right. I also really really liked Tales of Symphonia and Tales of the Abyss.

I've recently been playing some RPGs that I I always wanted to but never got into much: Mother 1 for our beloved Famicom (well, I'm playing the translation, but still) Final Fantasy V Advance thanks to the newly released audio patch that fixes the music back to its original SNES sounds) and Persona 4 for PS2, which is literally like playing an anime. There's no RPG that comes even close to the experience of P4, not even P3.
