As long as it adheres to the sprite and raster rules then I don't see why not, but megaman games were always plagued by sprite flicker as it is.  Add a giant dinosaur, text bubbles and flaming trees and it could be too much.

Theoretically, yes, Rockman 7 FC, upcomming Rockman 8 FC and the downloadable game Rockman 9 (Wii/360/PS3) could all be made for the Famicom, but they couldn't simply be ported over. Rockman 7 FC was made for PC and while it does follow all the limitations of the Famicom, I sort of doubt it'll ever happen. These games are new games built from the ground up to emulate the design of games much more powerful systems (espically in the case of Rockman 8 FC). I'd LOVE to have an NES rom of any of them. I'd very quickly get an NES reproduction if possible. But alas, I doubt we'll ever see true conversions.

you got a point..

Take a long time to code the game for the NES..

Someone sshould do it..for NES fans, Would there even a demand for it??

If someone ported VS SMB to the NES, then how come they can't do it with Rockman 7 for PC to the NES?  What's the difference in the coding?
I like to glitch old VHS tapes and turn them into visuals for live music events. Check out what I'm working on - www.instagram.com/tylerisneat

It's not the code so much as the hardware architecture.  An NES is far different from a modern PC.

I had read about MM10 coming out for Wii, but don't at all care about it if it isn't on an NES/Famicom cart.

So, at least for me, there would be a demand for it  as an NES/Famicom cart.  Can't speak for everyone...

MS-DOS4

There may be a large demand for it, but it isn't going to happen. It would have to be the best NES homebrew ever, and that is a difficult task to achieve, though still possible. The best homebrew for the NES I can think of right now is "Mario Adventure" and that's only an extensive hack. It would still be very cool nonetheless.

One can dream?  ???

For the record, Battle Kid is the best NES homebrew.  It's not released yet, but there's a public demo rom out there:

Looked pretty good, but if that's the first level, then it looks like it may be rather difficult in later levels.

If you were a good enough homebrewer you could attempt to create these by bastardising one of the other RM games but I have serious doubts that the NES/Famicom would struggle to cope with the upgrades in gameplay mechanics.  The sprite limit is the hardest thing to get around and if you could turn that off (like you can in emulation) then it's instantly much more feasible.  See this thread for more details of why it causes problems and RM6 took it to the limit already:

What I'd really like to see is one cart that had 'endless mode' versions of all the games in.  So you could say, boot up a quick endless mode of Rockman 2 then after a bit reset and have ago on 6.  There's no reason that couldn't be totally possible I can think of.  Perhaps there's some loading times hidden in but they could probably be worked around.

I gotta be honest here - that homebrew game Battle Kid looks bad.  I've seen better megaman clones.  Just look at the jumping animation, there's no deceleration or acceleration in there even.  Good when you consider it's homebrew, but you could pick apart Rockman 1 as a downgraded (complete) hack and it would still be miles better.

Wow, that looks awesome! Will that be on a cart or for emulators only?

Sorry for the double post - but I thought that the VS games were basically just upgrades of the originals anyway?  Or that the originals are expansions on the VS games if they came first.  Like Joe said the architecture back then was consistent.  Keiji Inafune has said before in interviews about RM9 that although it could be made possible on a NES/Famicom they wouldn't be able to find old code and adapt it or even program in this way because it's simply too old by now to be familiar enough with.  That was a surprise to me but when all their programmers are struggling with the PS3 structure and working with the easier 360 I guess it's understandable that they don't have guys familar with Famicom language or even older stuff like the MSX/SG1000.

Did anyone else sense a major I Wanna Be the Guy influence in this game?
