I guess I'm an ignoramus because I honestly don't get what this is referring to.

94. That video game cartridges can come in all colours: black, white, green, blue, orange, red, raw umber, purple, etc... and still coexist peacefully. In some ways, the Famicom cartridges are more humane than the human race which plays them. Or something like that.

He's talking about the belt for the Famicom Disk System

95. Nintendo of America must be made up of vampires because they are all afraid of crosses and crucifixes and will go to the ends of the Earth to remove all references to them from their games.

That seriously just made my day.  :cherry:

96. Mario + Sonic the Hedgehog = Somari the Adventurer

That's just basic Famicom Pirate knowledge  :D

Frank_fjs

Have to disagree with 99, the C64 has the best chip audio of any console. :)

YoshiFan501

ok you got me there. The SID(?) Chip does do a great job

Nightstar699

But the C64 doesn't have this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uqQofm3zTU I'd say the Famicom has the best music out of any console ever, but that's just my opinion.

101. Apparently Japanese gamers liked their Mahjong and baseball. A LOT.

Ah dude, since my copy of Gimmick is a pirate, it doesn't have the extra sound channels. That's why I always have headphones on and listen to YT uploads of the OST as I play it. I didn't care much for it at first, but that game is kinda starting to grow on me.

102. Many of the best games happen to be the least well known ones.

103.  Japanese kids are apparently supposed to know a lot of English to play their Famicoms.  I couldn't believe my SMB cart had no Japanese in the game!

P

They probably play it without understanding what it says. When I played it for the first time I could hardly read my own language and absolutely not English. Not that you worried about such things back then.

Besides just adding katakana would mean around 50 extra sprites in the picture memory while Latin letters are less than 30. English is also seen as cool in non-English speaking countries especially for young kids.

Most of them have a pretty decent understanding of basic English words. Its the grammar and sentence structures that really tear them a new one. So most of them should be able to play those games with relative ease and think it's pretty cool that their game has that spiffy English language in it. And some of them just like to skip everything and get to the action.  ;D
