Doom is online! I think I'm going to cry!

Anyone that knows me that well knows that I love my Doom... Umm... not death but doom the game.  I have played almost every version of it and own like 4 different versions of it but recently I hooked up my 360 to the internet and wanted to try the doom demo but an un-accessable multiplayer mode is featured!  This really peaked my curiosity and I didn't know how they were going to pull it off but sure enough it is online enabled!!!  Co-operative missions with up to 4 people! man!  I bought it today and tested it out and it's awesome!

You guys must buy this online and we can try and beat the game on nightmare or something else and there is also a deathmatch mode.  This version features all 4 episodes and it does not seem to be missing levels and for those graphical-whiners out there you'll be happy to know it's probably the best looking version of the game.

aw man, please buy this people it's 400 points so it isn't bad and it is extremely fun cooperatively!

- Hacked Dreamcast version with the original trilogy (ultimate doom, doom 2, final doom)
- Saturn version of doom (not as bad as people think)
- Had doom 64 but thanks to my brother...
- Numerous emulated versions

You use a router or modem, right?  find a spare ethernet cable and plug it into your router and your 360.  Then just set it up with your settings like you would for any other online console.  you'll get to a step where your asked how many months of live you want then just choose none.  After that you will be prompted to a 1 month free trial.  Even when that runs out you still have access to the marketplace where you can get doom.

The PSX DOOM is often overlooked but excellent. It might actually be the same as the Saturn version but I'm not sure. What was interesting about it was that it integrated DOOM 2 stuff into the original DOOM levels making a familiar but fresh experience.

Since the source code was released many years back, there's so many ports of it now. Digital camers and MP3 players can play DOOM and if you implement all the modernizing mods, it looks like a fairly recent 3D shooter.

well, I've tried it out a few times went through the first episode 2 times now.  The first was with some other guy that knew how to pay well on Hurt me plenty.  Then I went to join a game and ended up having 3 people on the first episode for ultra-violence.  Some kid was running it and kept trying to kill us so we eventually killed him enough that he quit and the other guy and I finished.  Very fun!  despite the kid... 

there is also a deathmatch mode that allows you to fight someone on any map throughout the entire game no enemies they just stockpile weapons everywhere.  Also very cool.

Doom is one of mine all-time-favourite, I'm still playing it using ports like ZDoom, Skulltag (you can meet me online thru Doomseeker) - I like the freelook option those are giving, don't need more... well, maybe except some twelve gauge and a few demons ;-)

skulltag is a seriously awesome doom port.  I wish I could play it, but there's no OS X version last I checked.  The freelook makes the game feel brand new.

You could emulate Windows on your MAC OSX, but I've read that it's needed to spend a lot of time on this installation.

Btw, some no-life made Windows 7 with MAC OSX design lmao.. these kind of things only waste memory of the computer and make it slow, simple and fast is better.

If he wanted a MAC OSX he should've looked for a job instead of wasting his time on something which nobody would pay 'em.

Anybody down to play some Doom Team Deathmatch on PC? Like, using the Skulltag source port?

In particular, the add-on called Ghouls vs Humans. Trust me, it is VERY fun and interesting, you could be into it!
