Considering how developers in China are churning out new Famicom ports regularly, I'm sure we've got a few more surprises to see. Maybe even something good. Some of the games I've seen certainly aren't bad, though being in Chinese can make them a bit inaccessible. We've seen things like Super Mario World, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy VII, even Everquest. So, I'm wondering, what would you like to see a Famicom/NES port of?

I suppose there's a couple of games I'd like to see. Super Mario Crossover (really excellent flash game http://www.explodingrabbit.com/games/super-mario-bros-crossover here if you've never played it. I'd also love to see a version of Link's Awakening. I know I could be more ambitious, but those two I'm sure would translate well.

Though an 8 bit Heavy Rain would be interesting. :D

A simplified World of Goo would be cool on the Famicom! No way the system could handle physics though.

Was there ever a version of Insector X released on the NES/Famicom? I used to play that in the arcades quite a bit back in the day. Played a lot of Galaga.... but that is out there officially.  Maybe an NES version of Tempest? Something not too language intensive. Altered Beast?
Castlevania Bloodlines would be great... but I don't know if it could be done in 8-bit. That game is probably THE reason why I still have a Genesis.  :D

There is indeed a port of Insector X for the Famicom, as well as Altered Beast.

Apparently there may be a Famicom port of Link's Awakening. The title of the topic seems to be Link's Awakening, but the guy goes on to call it an original game. It looks interesting, but crappy. Now where's my Super Mario Crossover?

I wish Chinese were a little simpler. I'm sure romhacking a Chinese ROM into English is a pain in the butt. I tried my hand at hacking ROMs many many years ago. Got partially through a game. I wonder if any new tools have made the job any easier.  It seems like it would be straightforward in this case. An English translation already exists, after all.

Heh, chances are that if you can think of a popular game, it's name and sometimes characters have been slapped into some shitty Chinese RPG.  Sometimes they're actually decent games, but more often then not, their save batteries don't work, the game has numerous in-game and hardware bugs, and the game is just bad in general.  They're still a cool conversation piece though, and sometimes they're fun to play to get a laugh out of.  I have a game called "Pokemon Crystal" which attempts to port Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire to the Famicom.
I like to glitch old VHS tapes and turn them into visuals for live music events. Check out what I'm working on - www.instagram.com/tylerisneat

I should probably just invest in retrozone's NES Gameboy thing if I really want to play Gameboy games on my NES. It would be sort of silly though, since I own two Super Gameboys. That is, unless you can play them in total fullscreen. That's the one thing about the Super Gameboy that really annoyed me.

A Gameboy Player for Gamecube plays all Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance games in full screen that's why it's so preferred.

I am desperately waiting for Tokumaru to post some news on his new Sonic the hedgehog NES, but topic I'm watching is quiet for over a year -

-Cool. I'll have to keep my eyes open for these. Were these pirate ports, or authentic?

L___E___T

I thought they were pirates.  Altered Beast is bad, bad - just to warn you...

This is a REALLY interesting topic for me - as I'm currently creating a list of demakes I'd like to see on the NES.  My first thoughts of DOABLE NES ports would be:

- Red Dead Redemption (and Undead Nightmare) (Castlevania platformer RPG)
- Bayonetta (Shatterhand style platformer)
- Vanquish (bullet hell top down schmup)
- Shinobi (PS2) (Ninja Gaiden style platformer)
- Robot Unicorn Attack (as-is with scaled graphics and sound)
- Canabalt (as-is with scaled graphics and sound)
- Nikujin (as-is with scaled graphics and sound)
- Pixel the cat (Arkedo series) (as-is with scaled graphics and sound)
- Jump (Arkeedo series) (as-is with scaled graphics and sound)
- Swap (Arkedo series) (as-is with scaled graphics and sound)

Oh, and Batman: Arkham Asylum of course!

Take a look here for gameboy demakes to get an idea of what I mean by 'doable'

NES ports would obviously not look like their newer counterparts but I like the idea of taking something like Undead Nigthmare and presenting it using the Castlevania (2) engine, for example.

They're legit releases, Altered Beast was released by Asmik while Insector X was released by Taito themselves.

Robot Unicoirn Attack would be awesome.

Another great  game that i just thought of is that "Pandemic 2" flash game. A more detailed version of that would be awesome.

I'd also like a zombie game. Like Left4Dead or something, but scaled for one player/NES play. Maybe as a turn based RPG it could be done. They did it with Alien vs. Predator after all.
