Surprised a thread like this hasn't already been made.  Anyone here like taking pictures? :)

I've always had at least a small interest in photography, and recently I met someone who really liked it, and got me more interested too.  This Christmas, I got my first DSLR, a Nikon D3100, and I love it.  I've taken a few pictures since then, and I'll edit this post with links to my albums on Facebook for you guys.

Edit: Album links: (I'll update this post as I make more)

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=244050&id=516772309&l=6ec0bd74c4 This album is half pictures taken with my old digital camera, and half with my new camera.  The split is the change in season. The first 27 "sunny" pictures are with my old camera.  The winter ones, and every picture after those, were taken with my new camera. (Last updated: 12/31/10 @ 5:40PM CST)

I am by no means asking for praise.  Most of these pictures are of random things anyway.  If you guys have any constructive criticism, however, I'd love to hear it.

I love taking pictures, but I'm not that good at it. I also don't have a great camera. Architecture is my favorite subject.

I really like the third and fifth ones.  Where were those taken?

I really wish I could get into photography. It's a shame that I'm too damn poor! :(

Thanks! The third was taken in New Mexico at Taos Pueblo in New Mexico, and the third was taken in Berlin, Germany.

No.  But apparently since I'm majoring in Comm Design, I'm supposed to have a camera. :P

I do have a digital camera, but it won't run on anything after XP. :(

Use it in compatibility mode?
Sorry folks.

Or get an SD card reader (if your computer doesn't already have one).  I hate having to plug my camera into my computer with a cord.  I think it's much easier just to take out my SD card and take the pictures directly from it onto my computer.

I do the same thing with my cameras. Hooking them up with the USB cable and reading them through some slow, crappy program is such a pain in the ass. It's so much easier to just take the pics directly off the SD card.  :P

Edit: I took these 2 photos going about 60 MPH in a car a few years ago. I think they look pretty good considering they were taken with a very old digital camera.

Already tried, doesn't work.

There's a thought!  But I don't know how to take pictures directly to the SD card.  I'll admit, it's a cheap camera.  This was back when 7 megapixels seemed top-notch.

Did you mean "from"? or did you mean you don't know how to save them directly to the SD card?  I know some cameras have internal memory, but I figured they always automatically adjusted to save to the SD card as long as one was in the camera.

Whoa! You're right! :o

It DOES save directly to the SD card. :)

Thanks 'dork! :D

Now I can save myself the trouble from buying another one.  I'm a penny-pinching .

No problem.  Happy to help!  I can't imagine how much longer getting all of my pictures on my new camera would take if I used a camera-USB transfer, considering I've recently been taking continuous shutters of objects in motion. ::)
