Hey guys, really just as an experiment, I decided to put all of the parts in the top 100 NES/Famicom games list I've been working on for the past few months into a single post to see if wordpress would even be able to handle it.

I need to make sure it works lol

word of warning: this post contains over 53,000 words, somewhere around 500 images, and about 100 embedded youtube links. I do NOT recommend it viewed on mobile devices.

I've gone back through it and corrected errors as I saw them, but I probably missed some. If you spot mistakes, let me know so I can fix them!

Because there's a lot of game that're more fun?

Please understand, I didn't "forget" about Recca, or any other game I didn't place into the top 100.

Recca is an impressive game, but far, far too difficult for its own good. Even if it weren't incredibly difficult, it doesn't offer enough depth. Games like Gun-Nac, Gradius II and Crisis Force all run circles around Recca. The only thing really notable about Recca is the speed of which it runs, and of course its rarity. It goes in the honorable mentions, but not in the top 100.

I fully agree I love recca but my crisis force cart gets way more play than recca just because it's actually playable.

took about 60 seconds for your all in one page to load on my new iPad. Still waiting on my MacBook Pro.

Yeah, apparently it loads great on ipads! I guess I had nothing to worry about.

Hey - will you ever do a similar top 100 or even top 50 list for Super Famicom?

I'm playing a lit of Gameboy recently and really enjoying it, but I know that a Super Famicom 'phase' is sweeping up on me soon and I've even had colleagues bitten by this bug to the point of picking up expensive carts for their rediscovered SNESs.

I think you have a 'best of' list, but do you think you'll do something bigger?   Finger's crossed!

yeah, I'll be doing an SNES/SFC list in the future. Not right away though. First will be NES/FC honorable mentions, then probably Sega Master System/Mark III. i also really want to make a list for the original Xbox, as I've discovered over the past few years that it's probably got the strongest overall game library of the three consoles from last gen, which is surprising, because all you ever heard was Halo this, Halo that.

Really???  I looked through our xbox stock cupboard and it's mostly rather dusty.  I'm not allowed to say bad things about companies, but I would say the PS2 had a way better library for sure when you look at exclusives and must-have titles.  The Gamecube has some great games, but just not enough!

This is awesome work! I love how you've not only listed your favorite games, but also motivated why you think they deserve to be in the top 100! I especially liked the "Fun facts" sections, and the pictures and videos are great too - I've played most of these games, but there are a few which I've never heard of before. They look like interesting games, and I'll be sure to check them out! :)

Just wanted to say I really appreciated this list, it helped me pick out a number of games to keep on the look out for.
