Actually I have been getting a few messages recently about packages taking longer than the usual 2 weeks, big apologies to everyone for that.  That is the official estimate from Japan Post, and it was accurate in the past (except around Christmas) but for some reason it is taking longer these days. (Rest assured everyone who has ordered from me: I have never had a package fail to arrive so even if they take a few extra days, they will get there).

Not an official `bump`, but I wanted to update on the shipping situation.

It seems that as of January 1st, 2014 the Universal Postal Union made some changes to SAL shipping.  The main one is that a lot of countries will no longer accept registered SAL packages (many of them in Europe).  These countries still take SAL unregistered.

I suspect that these changes have also affected the shipping times, which is why packages that I have sent since last month are taking longer.  I talked to the folks at my local post office about this yesterday and, though they couldn`t give me any details, they seemed to confirm this.  When I asked what the expected shipping times now were they not only couldn`t give me an answer, but they actually asked me if I could tell them how long the packages I sent were taking so that they would know!

Japan Post`s website used to give an estimate of 2 weeks for SAL small package to most countries in Europe and North America, which was reasonably accurate in the past and so I would generally give that as an estimate.  They have just changed that feature on their website and no longer give an estimate for shipping times.  Judging from recent feedback I`ve gotten from people I`ve sold stuff to on here, the average shipping time is now probably about 3 weeks, and in some cases it is taking longer than that.

So I just wanted to apologize to everyone whose package has been delayed.  This was not something I was aware of and I do apologize for the extra wait.  The good news is that all packages are arriving, just they are taking longer.

I can confirm, that something changed in the postal system, but can not give much details. However registered airmail with tracking number still avaliable.
