Super Mario Land 2 has my vote. I think Mario Land 1 was too pixelated/ blocky and the game was WAY too short, and for some reason I think that the graphics in Wario land are a little too big and every thing looks cramed and tight. But that's just my opinion though ;)

Mario 2, the first was a bit weird with the vanishing stars and the strange enemies. I dont know, i dont feels like a real mario in my opinion.

Mario 1 for me. Simple and easy game.
I just can't seem to get into 2 or 3.

My favorite would have to be Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land

although the second Mario land did introduce Wario.... :P

Super Mario Land 1.

Retro Gamer said it best:

"One of the monochrome Game Boy's earliest releases, Super Mario Land displayed a cleaver understanding of the hardware's inherent abilities. It contained bold and ingenious design decisions, which were promptly ignored by nearly all future GB developers. They weren't trying to create a port of the NES experiences, they were developing something for the GB specifically in mind. The minute details are exquisite in the extreme, evoking the same feelings as seeing delicate Japanese embroidery or Nouveau cuisine."

This is very true. There are plenty of famous NES games that ended up ported in a bad way to the GB, sometimes it would be exactly the same game except that the vision range would be more limited which is terrible.

My favorite super mario land must be 3 but mainly because I spent so much time on it as a kid. Also I loved finding all the hidden treasures and hidden levels. SML3 succeeds as much as 2 to create different moody worlds, except that it doesn't look all cute as it does in 2.

I guess it's got to be the first one. There were many hours spent playing it in the car and to this day I've never been able to finish it. :-[

manuel

Just try it again. It's not that hard.

PatMan33

The last time I played it was about a year ago. Do I have to tell you how it went? :-X

manuel

Well... yeah of course.  :)

If it's a Mario Land related story it's not even off-topic.  :D

Well I could never get past the submarine level... and that's still the case. It is confounding too because Platformers are what I'm best at. Must be the stigma I've attached to it.

ggrrr I'm going to stop coming here as its costing me way too much. Just gone and bought all 3 Mario Land games.
