Hello all,

Well, I got my copy of Gyromite & made my convertor.  I removed the PCB board, sanded down the edges of the black part of the convertor, cut up the cartridge & made a makeshift convertor out of it.  As far as I'm aware, the adapter is assembled the way it was when it was still a full game cartridge.

I've attempted to play Tetrastar, Daiva, and Star Luster, and none of them are working.  I have the convertor in right-side-up with the game cart attached upside down, and to no avail.  If I wiggle the assembly around inside my NES, I can sometimes get a solid green or grey screen, but that's as far as I can get.  I've also thoroughly cleaned the cartridges & the pins on the convertor.

So what am I doing wrong?  Do I have t disable the lockout chip on the NES first or something?  Please let me know.  It would suck to have bought all these Famicom games, only to be unable to play them! :(

UPDATE: I opened up the NES & apparently the lockout chip is already disconnected, so that can't be the problem either.

Perhaps you've (by mistake) flipped the PCB that connects the NES to the black gender changer? I've also made a "Gyromite-converter" and it works nicely on my European NES.

Do other NES games work correctly, and easily? You may have a bad ZIF connector; you may also have bent a pin on the adapter when you sanded it, or you may have bits of plastic debris in the connector. Use compressed air to blow out the connector on the adapter, then clean all the contacts carefully with appropriate tools.

You should also ensure that your FC games are working; clean the pins on them too.  :bomb:
