Famulator video review

Hey guys, thought you might be interested to take a look at the Famulator Famiclone that's recently cropped up for sale in Japan for around 3000 yen. Her'es my opinion of it.

I have one and it works great, only have encountered 1 pirate cart that wont function with it.  All official famicom carts and a large majority of pirates i have work fine. Its flimsy as hell though. The cartridge slot can be tight on these and I highly recommend pulling the cartridge out from either the left or right side instead of directly pulling the cart up and out.

Is there any reason Famulators have a perceived value higher than that of your average NOAC clone? Is it simply due to looks, or does it actually have better hardware in some tangible way that sets it apart from something else?

If you watch my video, you'll see that it's its a superior clone in the sens that it will play MMC5 without any problem and even the Powerpak without issue either. If it weren't for the vertical bars and reversed duty cycle audio it would be the ultimate Famiclone. Nevertheless, I love how the Famulator looks. I don't think the asking price of 3000 yen new in box was really outrageously high considering the clone's performance.

All of my NOAC clones play the Powerpak fine though - I've never had a problem with that, the build quality makes it worth getting  a better clone I'd say.
Some of my clones have literally fallen apart...

Looks so awesome. I've seen these on eBay before, but the asking price is more than what I paid for for my boxed Famicom.

What clones do you have that the Powerpak works on? I even have a direct hardware clone that it doesnt work on! The only other system I have that sort of works is the Power Joy III, but it displays a buzzing noise and graphical garbage and will not play anything that uses an advanced mapper.

Considering the asking price in Japan for a new in box Famulator is 3000 yen, you shouldn't pay more than $35 + shipping for one. I got mine used.

Yeah probably, only problem with the extra sound pin, but I guess that would be fixed with the fix that 133MHzz mentions in the Youtube comment.

I have a bunch of Arcade Action clones (N64 style) that play it absolutely fine.  In fact, they play anything as a rule - I haven't found a single cart that they wouldn't play, but they're all 50hz

That and they fall apart from little wear.  But yes, it played the Powerpak fine.  I actually had no idea that clones DIDN'T play Powerpak well...
