Is Mega Man Running or Walking?

The thought came to me as I was jogging back from the gym & listening to Soldier of the Underworld.

Is he running, or is he walking?

Obviously in Mega Man 7 he's not walking:

The problem with 1-6 is that it looks more like a walk: ...but he moves too fast across the screen to be walking.

What do you think? I'd like to hear other people's overanalyzations. :D

Actually, I think this is more of a trot:

I think he is running lightly to both be able to hurry and save the world and to conserve energy. It's on the border to walking due to the lack of frames in 1-6 so you can't really make out if both feet leaves the ground at any point.

It's also possible that Dr Light upgraded his stamina so much in Megaman 7 that he can run a bit faster.

If the animation was a bit faster, it will not be so problematic to find out whether he's running or not. Check Super mario for example, when you hold B, the animation is faster.

How fast does an android run, if an android doesn't merely trot?

There is indeed, something quite surreal about this thread--both the OP's question and the answers. I rather like it, in my typically deranged cognition. :bomb:

He's running, he's just big chassis'd.

Well he's certainly not crouching, that's for sure.  Makes me wonder if Mega Man has knees at all.

Yeah it's nice to fool around a bit sometimes, we can't always be super serious right?

Now some more overanalyzations: Knee joints was maybe worn out fast so Dr Light avoided ducking moves in Mega Mans programing in order to keep them from too much stress. But it took him two games before he came up with a sliding move to compensate for it...

Dr. Wily shot him in the knee-caps. He's trying to run, but he's limping.

Duh.

FamicomFreak

Dude, he is running for his life! Everything coming at him and taking it out on him and he is only stuck with the mega buster that is until he gets some master robot powers....I would be running pissed too going after Wily time after time! That old bastard needs to go!

Based on the length at which his arms outstretch, I've concluded he's running. There's a certain intensity to the arm movement.

Maybe it's just a mass to size coefficient. He's human-sized, but very massive, being built of metal, and his power-source is primarily used for his A.I. and weapons, so propulsion is a minor system that gets only as much energy as he needs to move. Thus, he doesn't move at full-speed when weapon-equipped, and you're seeing him on a bad day anyhow.

You wouldn't be at 100% if you had bizarre bots shooting at you from all directions, while you're avoiding spikes and trying to stop a mad genius from wrecking your life, so we need to cut him a break.  :bomb:
