All Night Nippon Mario is one of the games I want eventually. I haven't made it clear yet, but Mario is in fact my favorite series. After I collect all the games I want to play loose, I'm planning to collect every Mario game CIB. Those are the only CIB games I want.

I know L_E_T always has money.. He must be rich or something!!I am very jealous and would kill for even quarter of the stuff he's got. I do find good stuff on ebay and think its a great price for most items I find then after winning,  I always get screwed for shipping charges. for instance I just bought a original Famicom console slightly yellowed and needs new power and reset stickers but otherwise in great condition for $25. then had to pay $40 for shipping :( and the little shipping chart on the auction said I would have to only pay $17 for shipping. same goes for most Famicom games I get. I might win a game for say 2 or 3 bucks and end up paying $10-20 for shipping.Whats the secret here cause I see people buying shit loads of games and stuff and I know they are getting deals and not via ebay so could some one clue me in cause I want some famicom stuff for cheap!! ;D

No secret or trick to Ebay shipping.  It's usually written flat out and if not it'll be somewhere in the description.  I've never had shipping randomly change on me like it did to you.

The good stuff costs money, don't be fooled about that.
A good game will cost more than 2-3$, usually...
Of course anyone gets lucky sometimes.

Shipping cost is usually stated clearly, unless you want to go for EMS in the end. But it can be difficult to understand the shipping chart. Sometimes their cheap shipping is only for unregistered sea mail, and sometimes their cheapest shipping don't apply to one's country.

One way to avoid high shipping cost is to only buy from sellers in the same country. Of course the price is usually a bit higher then. So in the end, games usually cost and I think most collectes have paid close to normal price for the majority of their purchases. A game for 10$ one might find for 5$ in an auction. A game for 100$ one might get for 50$ in an auction. But very rarely for 5$. Etc.

There is a reason, after all, there are other bidders who also want to make finds. But taking a risk buying something others might not know about or from some more unknown seller is more likely to make "finds". People prefer to bid high on nice looking professional sellers. Bidding on lesser known sellers could give cheaper auctions -- but also a greater risk involved.

Well, in the end, games cost. Experienced bidders can often make finds a bit cheaper and sometimes a LOT cheaper, but after all they usually have to pay for the goods.

There is also a Buy and Sell on this forum with good prices on a lot of games, even 2-3$ games.
Selling  Japanese games in Sweden since 2011 (as "japanspel").

I bought a CIB ann mario while i was at super potato.
Hey stealthlurker do you mind digitizing that vhs? I'd really love to see what's on it. Even if you don't share it, it's just good to preserve the data on non-magnetic media

Can't, it's not a VHS..... it's beta. Don't have a player right now. Shame because a few years ago I bought a NOS CIB D-VHS player for transfers. An actual high def (1080i) VHS player with component output. Even cleans up and up scales standard VHS tapes. Native DVHS tapes look amazing. Almost bluray quality.

Ahhh ok i didn't know it was a beta tape. Nice finds by the way! Really love the hat.

Will you wear it? :P

LOL, have you seen some of the other collectors here?  I don't have a lot of money, but I buy games instead of going out drinking and what not, maybe a couple hundred bucks a month on games and that is still too much for me really.

Trust me I am not rich yet, remember I have been collecting stuff like this bit by bit month by month for coming up ten years.  A lot of the hardware I bought a long time ago when things were still relatively cheap.

I bought a brand new Famicom never opened with a brand new Zelda for £250 shipped back then which I saved up a long time for and the bug just bit.  I don't spend that much these days.

My advice if you want stuff cheap is to first make a list of what you're after.  Single, common games you can get from eBay, but I wait to get particular games from friends in Japan.  Lately, I've found Senseiman has the best prices going so I bought some pricier games from him especially.

To save on shipping - you need to buy in bulk.  That's why I try and buy around a dozen games at a time as a rule because then it's a buck or two shipping per game rather than ten bucks.

Making a list will help because collecting this stuff can easily get out of hand.  I thought I had all the loose games I wanted but then made a last list and it was already massive again!

Yeah thanks for the info L_E_T,
I have been buying abunch of stuff here lately from users on these forums and I am currently in negotiations with senseiman for some games and possibly that last famicom console.I understand it takes money and time to buy nice games and am not looking to get stuff for nothing.I am just not rich or well off like a lot of people around here seem to be so I have to buy a few games here and there. You know a problem I have been running into lately is I keep buying games I think I really want but it turns out after I buy them, I already end up having them in my collection from previous purchases.Trying to find a way to stop from doing this by making a list of the games I have but I have close to 600 loose games and a lot of them i am not even sure what they are cause they have only japanese text and titles.Anyways enough rambling.. Just a quick question how do you all store you famicom games?? Pictures would be great.. right now half are in plastic drawer tote thing and the other half is packed up in cardboard boxes.:(

Hey Bluecow, here's what I've done with my famicom games.  Ultimately I'd like to have some large nice drawers I can pull out of a chest of some kind... but here's what I've done for now.
There are over 600 carts here I think, in 6 rubber maid containers..   I just recently moved the game room, so I was able to put these guys and their shelves into the walk in closet. I've been excited to do this to protect them from sun rays.

What do you think?   Hardly ideal, but without it works for now. And thanks to the shelves and closet, I can walk in, pop a lid, and find a game.   They're not at all organized though.

fcgamer

Famicom games are nice, because you can easily identify most of them via the ID# on the carts.  Just do a search in the FW database and voila, you got the name!  I took the info from the FW database, formatted the list to my tastes a bit, and then printed it off and put it in a big binder (and also kept the list on the computer, for easy access).  Then I check off the games, every time I get something new.  I did this for the licensed games and licensed disks (made separate lists that take up separate spaces in the binder), and then for the unlicensed stuff, I use the info from my person lists, which are a bit more thorough (imo).

I've bought multiples before as well, but luckily only the $1 - $2 kind of mistake.

Yep thats what my plastic drawer thing kinda looks like. it looks like 3 of those plastic storage totes high with 4 or 5 columns of games wide and 2 stacks of game on top of each others so there are about 3-400 games in total in the drawers. I also keep my prized games which are in those totes in a dark room so they dont get sun damage. all my doubles or ones I could care less about are in my living room on display on a shelf.soon as I figure out how to post pictures I will share them. Out of my finds for this week I got a Original Famicom console "Finally", shipped from japan which is in my possession now for only a total of $35.00 and I also found a brand new famiclone from russia called a dendy which cost me about the same.its multi shades of grey in color instead of the traditional red and white that the famicom is. My famicom is a bit yellowed so I am retro brightening it today. I am still out to find a nice new white one.Hopefully next month I can get me a Famicom Disk System if the price is right.
