Thats because you received the later release of the game when they actually went back to fix the boy on boy sprites and put in some female details. Its not a ROM problem or Cart problem. First edition releases all use the boy sprite. The last edition release was corrected to include male/female. Your version is actually 1000x rarer then the first edition and is quite a unique/semi-valuable release.  Really no telling what version you get unless you ask the seller to test it, you lucked out.  :D

Wow, that's insane. I guess my new addition did qualify as a "find" then. :)

This still doesn't explain why somebody made a Naked hack of the all boy version. Hahaha.
Where did you hear about these different releases, I can't find any info on this girl version? Also, Is there a rom dump of the girl version?

I'm going to make a high res scan of my box and cart to see if I can compare/notice any difference from cart pics on the net.

Update: well, the back of my box shows one screenshot with female characters. Are all boxes like this?

I dont think there is a ROM dump.
The information was on a Spanish guys page who had a ton of  variants, Ill see if I can dig it up. Not sure about the back of the boxes. I have the all boy version of the game, and the second copy I had was the all boy version.  :-[  This was either a mid or late revision, All of the first print carts which was the most mass produced run of this game, are the boy version, Im not positive how rare it is, but it is certainly less common than the first print.

...and as far as the Naked hack goes....peoiple have done worse....super KKK Bros, Skinhead Fighter, MegaFag, Baby Maker, etc...

famiac

Damn! I was about to buy that exact one!

Paint clouds with rainbow colors and replace plants coming out of pipes :)

By the way, is it glob-top or real IC's?
I don't buy, sell or trade at moment.
But my question is how hackers at that time were able to hack those games?(c)krzy

jpx72

It's one-glob minimalistic PCB, one of the ugliest out there

YoshiFan501

Clones that look like the nes? what am i on

GohanX

;D

Got most of them from a local retro shop that had a $4.99 and under Famicom basket for a whopping $20 total. Except for Punch Out, which I got from Lee Yo.

$5 for Double Dragon is a pretty great deal, I'd say you got your money out of the rest at worst.  Star Soldier is a classic.

My girlfriend got me my first real famicom for my birthday yesterday.
It's already been modded for AV, it has some jailbar issues which I'll eventually get round to fixing but at the moment I'mn just happy to play it!

"GameCentre CX Chief ON!"

Great!   Mine has the same issues - please let me know where/when you get it tweaked as I need to do the same.
I was going to send it off to TEA4TWO and have them run all their services, but never got round to it due to the cost.

If you ever change your mind on the TEA4TWO, I highly recommend it. The quality of work is fantastic. I've got a couple original famis modded for A/V, official A/V famicoms and Sharp Twins.. the video is great on the tea.

They even supplied the famicom console for me. I had it fully decked out with almost every option they offered.

WOW... What's the total cost like on that?

Tea4Two sells that console for.....45,980円 (yikes)

It sure is interesting, but IMO I think you'd be better off spending money for an RGB mod.
