I honestly don't recall the total cost. In addition I had a middleman proxy service order, receive and ship it to me so it's a more on top of that.

If you didn't have to sacrifice a playchoice or titler for a PPU, I'd be all up for an RGB unit.... however I just can't bring myself to cannibalize one for such a mod.

Well, agree with the price or not (haters gonna hate, lol j/p)... but this is what you get:

1) Whitened console

2) New PPU filter

3) A/V Amp

4) A/V Kit

5) Simulated Stereo sound ("3D" sound)

6) Longer controller cords

7) Compact power adapter

8) New gold leaf controller decals and other decals

The only thing I skipped out on were the turbo buttons (I think they look ugly)

Of course you can mix and match options to whatever configuration you like to reduce cost. You can order the kits and install it yourself to save a some money too.

I'd go for the works like you did, but with the ugly Turbo switches.
I wouldn't want the PPU though anyway, plus I don't agree with sabotaging Titlers like that, they;'re rare enough as it is.
Besides, I have emulators to play if I want those visuals, I actually prefer the plain AV mod.  It baffles me that some hardcore guys detest emulators but then make all sorts of mods only for them to look just the same.  Games were designed with graphics to played on a CRT, not to appear how a PC renders them.  You go too sharp and you're actually moving away from how these games were originally intended, just like an emulator.  So, it's hypocrisy in that sense to me.

Well anyway I'll get saving for this.  IsSo I can plan ahead - is that price inclusive of the Famicom?
I have an AV-mod Famicom already that I could send to them, or sell on and start anew if that made more sense?

WOW... What's the total cost like on that?

Tea4Two sells that console for.....45,980円 (yikes)

It sure is interesting, but IMO I think you'd be better off spending money for an RGB mod.

hoowww muuccchh?!?!  :o is that extra 0 supposed to be there or not?

Those Tea4Two AV Famicoms are brilliant and actually what the AV Famicom should have looked like.

It's more labour cost than just the parts, which are still relatively expensive in kit form probably down to small runs.
Add in all the shipping fees etc. and I can see how it would end up that high.  Crazy really, as you could buy a brand new famicom for that, but it won't be as good.

I really want one.

I prefer having a regular Famicom modded to have AV output. :P

Mind you, I could get an AV Famicom if I wasn't skint.

Holy shit... got into a bidding war there. But still, think the price is good... whatcha think, fellas?

The Namco set is only missing Vol. 15 and 18 (Super Chinese/Skykid - otherwise complete!!) and look at that DKJ Math, Popeye, Mario Bros, Chack'n Pop, Ikki, Antarctic Adventure etc... I'm still full of adrenalin. Thought I wouldn't win this unique set cause I was bidding against another proxy  :'(

Never thought I'd own a boxed silver box Popeye. What a night (I set the alarm for 4:15am and it got extended by 15min total... gawwd)  :star:

Parodius Duh

Id say you over paid by quite a lot.....majority of those games are the most common titles you can possibly find and they are nowhere near mint condition (popeye and DK Jr. are the only real gems there....but the condition of the boxes is not good). 43, 600 yen equals $549.86 USD. Personally I wouldnt have paid more than $200-250 for that lot, and thats pushing it.

Won another sweet Famicom Disk Only game that has been painstakingly converted to a cart with high quality custom box and instructions!

Well these are just the Kaiser ports bought from Taiwan for a shitload of money and the board are just put in these Famicom case (with cheap printed label and box to sell for more).

Stupid seller.

Definitely not re-packaged pirates. Also by what images he's processed (ex: arcade version gradius, all nippon smb, strider, etc), it's clear that these aren't from what you find in Taiwan.

LOL

Tell me the last time you saw a chinese/taiwanese pirate of arcade version gradius hack, all night nippon smb, strider, etc?

$200-250 for this set is not quite realistic, even if it was just for the Namco games alone. I don't know where you buy your stuff, but finding all the Namco volumes in condition as good as this is a pricy endeavor on Yahoo. Find me a Dig Dug 2 and BurgerTime under $40 each :P
The boxed Popeye is almost impossible to find in mint condition and if you do, it'll 30'000+ yen. I wouldn't call Ninja-kun, Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Ikki Chack'n Pop and Antarctic Adventure "most common", they are not easy to find in this condition or at least they'll cost a pretty penny.

MasterDisk

I know a seller who used to produce (or reproduce) boxes for pirates games and was sometimes putting new labels and was buying all carts loose from Taiwan. Also my guess is that ANN is based off the unfinished romhack. Also there's a ton of FDS port that have been bought recently from Taiwan by some japanese dude. Like Zanac, CastleVania and others ;) Maybe i am wrong. But it could be guessed with picture of boards.

speculation works both ways doesn't it?

Zanac, Castlevania... yes those are more common to see on pirates. All Night Nippon? Yeah uh huh...

That's like saying the repro Nicoru that forum member here PARODIUS DUH had was just another repackaged expensive pirate... I'd say he would have some words to say on that, LOL.

Don't have them on hand yet though, I have all my yahoo japan auction winnings stock piling in the proxy service japan and usa warehouse. Waiting til I get about 100 or so auctions finished up before I issue the shipment request (saves some shipping money).
