Well, Kirby's Adventure does have an extra difficulty option which can be unlocked. The extra mode, where Kirby only has half as much health, and the game must be completed in one sitting.

Edit: Oh, and I beat Guevara today... definitely one of the finest shooters I've ever played. I'd recommend you give it a shot, L___E___T... but please, don't take advantage of the unlimited continues! Limit yourself to only using however many you'd buy in the arcade!

I've never seen it on a multicart, so I'd say an original copy is your best bet of owning that magnificent game.

You could get it as a single pirate cart too.  That's what I did, and I don't think I will upgrade and get an original copy, at least for now.  It was a fun game...not great, but not bad either.  I will probably play through it again sometime, but not for awhile.

You could always just make a repro of it and flash with the US version, which is more polished technically despite not having quite as much charm.

Hmmm? Which game are you talking about, L___E___T? It can't be Gourmet World, as the only real differences in the NES version other than the English text is the altered character/weapon sprite, the item placement, and the lack of a credits sequence at the end.

I thought the collision detection and hit boxes were different?  I should have researched more before writing that post :) when I played Panic Restaurant though, the hit detection did seem a lot better and I'm sure I remember some differences n the menu?

No, I've played through both of them many times, and the differences are only cosmetic. Though the standard weapon in Panic Restaurant is a pan, while in Gourmet World it's Kokkun's hat. But again, this is only a cosmetic difference, the hitboxes on these weapons are the same.

Oooh, weird :)  may I ask which you prefer?

I prefer Gourmet World overall, simply because I like the sprite for Kokkun better than Chef Cookie, and I always found it funny that Kokkun just hits the enemies with his hat, love that move. However it's worth pointing out that the invincibility animation is different between the two games, and I actually prefer that of Panic Restaurant. In Gourmet World, Kokkun simply spins around, holding the invincibility pan in his hands, but in Panic Restaurant, the invincibility pan is actually on top of Cookie's head, which looks pretty funny. Also, the title screen designs are vastly different between the two, and in this case I prefer the title screen of Gourmet World.

This is easily the coolest Famicom game I have. Heck, maybe the coolest thing I have overall.

What I didn't know when I agreed to buy it was that it was sealed.

I badly want to play it but I'm also scared to open it!

ericj

If you don't want to open it, I can sell you a pirated copy to play. PM if you're interested.

DO NOT OPEN   :bub:

This is likely what I'll do. I'll either take ericj up on his very kind offer or I'll find another disk only version at some point. I don't have an FDS yet, but I'd never seen the game for sale on eBay or any of my other haunts, so I had to buy this copy when I saw it. I had every intention of buying it to play, but when I saw it was sealed, well... that took a back seat. I'll either keep it as something really cool in my collection or I'll see if I can sell it to take (some of) the pain out of buying Gimmick! some day.
